Little Wolf’s Book of Badness – Unique and Unexpected with a Spiral of Surprises!

All Little Wolf wants to do is stay at home with Mum, Dad and his brother, Smellybreff. However, Mum and Dad are worried that their precious son, Little Wolf, is not as bad as a small wolf should be. So they decide to send him off to Cunning College in Frettnin Forest to learn the Nine Rules of Badness from his Uncle Bigbad. Uncle Bigbad is a hopeless teacher, but armed with determination and native wit, Little Wolf thinks things out for himself. Sent out by his Uncle to round up a troop of boy scouts to eat for supper, Little Wolf discovers that the scouts have many useful skills that Little Wolf can learn from them. In the end, Little Wolf decides not to follow outdated rules of proper wolf behavior but to be true to himself. As a result, he inherits his Uncle’s fortune and becomes master of Cunning College. Based on a world-famous series of best-selling Little Wolf story books, this one-off is a treat for the whole family! KIDS FIRST! Film Critic Sahiba K. comments, “With its spiral of surprises, I never could predict what would happen in the next scene. The story also puts a twist on common fairy tales such as Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood.” Dariana A. adds, “Little Wolf’s Book of Badness is a very odd type of film. It’s not your typical Dora the Explorer type of kids’ show, which is good because there are too many of those types of shows out there.” Rachael V., KIDS FIRST! Adult reviewer wraps it up with, “! I love the fact that this is a little story where we actively see a child decide who they want to be and being so proud of themselves. This is the kind of feel good story that every child needs to watch.” See their full reviews below.

Little Wolf’s Book of Badness

By Sahiba K., KIDS FIRST! Film Critic, Age 15

Little Wolf’s Book of Badness, directed by Karsten Kiilerich, is unique and unexpected! With its spiral of surprises, I never could predict what would happen in the next scene. The story also puts a twist on common fairy tales such as Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood.

The story follows Little Wolf (Alexander Pownall), who is not bad enough for his family. So his Mum (Lucy Whybrow) and Dad (Richard Hope) send him on a journey to Cunning College to learn from his Uncle Bigbad how to be a true bad wolf. On his quest, he learns the ‘Nine Rules of Badness.’

Alexander Pownall, the voice actor for Little Wolf, creates personality through his voice. His voice is high, making it sound like that of a young child. As Little Wolf ventures through the woods to reach Cunning College, I heard the fear in his voice and sympathized with him. When he writes letters back to his family and reads them, I heard the unwillingness to be where he was and the sense of defeat just through his voice. Michael Gambon, voice actor for Uncle Bigbad, has terror in his voice that gave me goose bumps. For example, when he is first introduced and he speaks, I knew Little Wolf was going to have a tough time in Cunning College.

The animation is dark but appealing. It sets the tone of the movie as it reflects Little Wolf’s feelings. For example, when Little Wolf feels that his trip was a waste of time and nothing good will come out of his journey, the scenery is dark, it is raining and there are shadowy clouds looming above him. The costume designs add to the personalities of each character. For example, Little Wolf has simple clothes that are similar to a schoolboy’s outfit, reflecting what his purpose is in the movie. Uncle Bigbad wears a grey suit, with a yellow shirt and blue tie which reflects his personality as an evil wolf but also one who has the potential to have color or goodness in his life.

My favorite part of this show is the animation. The type of animation that is used made me feel as if I was watching my own imagination. The message here is that goodness will always outshine darkness. I give this DVD 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 5 to 15. This is available on DVD now so check it out.

Little Wolf’s Book of Badness

By Dariana A., KIDS FIRST Film Critics, age 11

Little Wolf’s Book of Badness is a very odd type of film. It’s not your typical Dora the Explorer type of kids’ show, which is good because there are too many of those types of shows out there. This is a story and a good story at that. It teaches kids through a wolf who is supposed to be bad, but wants to be good.

The storyline is about Little Wolf who just wants to stay at home with his family, but his parents don’t think he’s bad enough to live up to the Wolf family name. So, they send Little Wolf to Cunning College to learn the Nine Rules of Badness from his Uncle Big Bad. But it turns out Uncle Big Bad isn’t such an amazing teacher after all.

As I said, the show is pretty great. The animation is wiggles a bit, even when they are standing still. This is probably intended, but it is kind of distracting. One of the things I really like about this show is its plot and the simple way it shows the lessons they are trying to teach without even saying so. This is what makes it a different type of kids’ film. It is also very slow paced. There isn’t very much action. One thing I wondered about the whole time is why Little Wolf always sneezes when he’s around Mr. Twister. Is he allergic? Michael Gambon, the voice talent for Big Bad is really cool. David Thewlis voices Mr. Twister, which is pretty awesome. I know and like both Gamgon and Thewlis from the Harry Potter films. Another thing I really enjoyed about this film is how scary they make Big Bad. I really was kind of scared when the character Big Bad came on and yelled at Little Wolf. That is probably my favorite scene because it really shows who Big Bad truly is.

The message this film teaches is that, even if you’re bad or scary, that doesn’t mean that you are happy. I rate this film 4 out of 5 stars because it has a cool, different way of teaching kids. I recommend this film for ages 2 to 6. This film is available now on DVD so, go check it out.

Little Wolf’s Book of Badness
By Rachael V., KIDS FIRST! Adult Reviewer

This is one of the absolutely cutest stories I have ever seen. I have read several of the short stories that spawned this movie and loved all of them. In this Little Wolf Adventure, his family is concerned that perhaps Little Wolf isn’t as big, bad and tough as he should be. Their reaction to this is shipping him off to Cunning College to learn the Nine Rules of Badness from his Uncle Bigbad, whom is voiced perfectly by Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter film series). During his time at the college he continuously struggles with the ideas of being such a bad wolf, but at the same time he just wants to make his family proud. At one point his uncle gives him the terrible task of fetching some unsuspecting boy scouts to gobble up. Little Wolf sees all of these things that the scouts do and decides he wants to learn to do all of these amazing things himself. He may not be a bad wolf, but he sure is a big wolf now! I love the fact that this is a little story where we actively see a child decide who they want to be and being so proud of themselves. This is the kind of feel good story that every child needs to watch. This is great for ages 7 to 11 and I give it 5 out of 5 stars for being so cutely inspirational. Things You Should Know About Diaper Organizer or Caddy

A lot of new moms usually get surprised when they finally realize how fast the baby goes through the diapers and a few other accessories. If you are blessed with a baby, you must learn quick enough and find out how you can make things easily accessible and operate efficiently.

Sometimes you often get entirely occupied. Thus you can’t keep on making constant trips to your baby’s room to change the diapers. This is where the caddies come in.

They help in making life much easier hence the need to get some top diaper caddies for your newborn. With them, you will always be well prepared. Let us see the types of caddies available today.

Types of diaper caddies

These products usually come in various sizes and styles as they come from different manufacturers as well. If you are shopping for organizers, you should also know the available types. This will help you choose the correct product. Below are some of the models.

Portable: A lot of people prefer using a portable caddy. This is because it can remain organized even when you are on the go. These types of organizers are always quite durable and have a handle for convenience. The handles are often made using different materials and come with different colors and decorations as well. They have a lot of compartments that are of different sizes to help you store more accessories.

Hanging: Well, the hanging type can also be considered to be portable if they are suspended from something. Most people would often hang them on the side of the changing table or closet door.

These types are relatively more extensive compared to the portable caddies, and therefore, it can hold more accessories. They can be adjusted to fit different spaces when hanging. For instance, in the back of your car seat while driving.

With this type, you can always take your baby anywhere with you without having to worry about them messing up their diapers.

Stationery: Just as the name suggests, these types of caddies are designed to be kept in a particular place. They are much larger in size compared to the first two types.

This is why they are not great for traveling or when moving. However, due to their massive size, you can keep all you need in there.

See this link to find out some reasons for using caddies http://sunshineandsippycups.com/2012/03/5-reasons-the-jj-cole-diaper-caddy-rocks/

What to consider when shopping for caddies

Just like any other product, there are a few things you need to have in mind when shopping for organizers. They will help you make the right decision and pick the correct item as well. Here are a few things you should look for.

  • Storage space

One of the crucial things to look out for would be the storage size offered by the item you are looking to buy. Try to think about all the things you are going to keep in the organizer and then look to find out if the available compartments will be enough.

A caddy with less separation is often difficult to use. It makes it hard to find what you are looking for and thereby forcing you to take much time.

  • Size

Apart from the storage space, you should also consider the size of the item. Sometimes you are not planning to have a lot of stuff in the organizer. For this, you can go for a smaller one that you can also store easily. However, if you are going to be needing more accessories in there, then it would be wise to get yourself a sizeable sized organizer.

  • Material

Well, as we all know, sometimes changing diapers becomes much messier than you might have thought. For this reason, you should consider getting something made from a material that is easy to clean.

Some of these materials include plastic and polyester. You can also go for something that offers resistance to stains. Many caddies can nowadays be spot cleaned easily or washed in the washing machines.

  • Color

There are those people who would prefer buying things depending on the gender of the baby. If you are one of them, then consider going for gender-specific color.

For instance, pink is always the right choice for girls. Some people would also prefer unisex organizers that can be used for more than one baby. They also look good when stored in any room.

  • Strong handle

Also, it would be great to choose a caddy that has a sturdy handle. This will make it easy for you to grab it quickly when you are in a rush. It’s an added Strong advantage when you get a caddy that has a long handle that can fit over your shoulders. This will free up your hands for other things.

What you can keep in the organizer Here are a few things you might want to stay in your organizer.

Diapers

This seems to be so obvious, but most people do forget about it eventually. You should always look to have at least one for every time you’ll be out. Also, make sure to pack a few extra ones.

Wipes

You can also have a few of these in your pack. They are quite helpful when it comes to diaper changes or when dealing with dirty surfaces.

Changing pad

A lot of caddies usually come with a changing pad that’s reusable. Alternatively, you can also get one from the stores separately. You can go for the disposable pads in case you are traveling. Also, a hand towel can work.

Hand sanitizers

These can come in handy, especially after changing diapers and you don’t have any place to wash your hands or the time to do so.

Snacks

You never know the next time your baby is going to feel hungry. This is why you should consider having a few snacks in the organizer as well.

You can pack some baby food and a spoon. Also, remember to include a few bibs too. Click here for more information about organizers.

Having an organizer can take you a long way. In as much as it makes things easier for you, it also saves you some time. Get yourself one of these excellent products today and have a great experience.

Dolce, Nov. 14th Pet of the Week!

Any time a pet winds up at a shelter, a sad story is behind it. This one’s particularly sad. This beautiful boy, whom shelter staff named Dolce—Italian for “sweet, and most appropriate—was found by a person collecting cans. Poor Dolce was very sick and had been tied up in a bag and tossed into a dumpster. The kindhearted person did the best to care for him but took him to the shelter where the medical staff made him healthy. He’s affectionate, grateful and ready to go home. Meet Dolce on the shelter side of the Companion Animal Village at 7700 East Spring St., (562) 570-PETS. Ask for ID#A635186.
