Fun and unique products that were invented by Moms!

This is such a great idea for families with young children!

eat2explore
Rowena Scherer founded eat2explore to teach her kids and kids around the world about different cuisines and countries while having fun. Rowena is a busy working mom in New York City who grew up cooking with her family in Malaysia. As her kids were growing up, she forgot the joy of taking a break and cooking with her family. She created eat2explore for families and friends to have an opportunity to create lasting memories at home.

eat2explore is a fun “explorer box” that features different countries and popular meals from those areas. The great part is the boxes do not include perishable products, so you can use the included ingredients and cook when you have time. eat2explore provides a shopping list to purchase proteins and vegetables of your choice at your local grocery store and includes hard-to-find spices and sauces. Kids love to learn, and each eat2explore box comes complete with three easy-to-follow recipes, explore country brochure, activity sheet, country sticker, flag pin and a fun collectible. Current countries available are France, Spain, Italy, Greece, USA, China, Japan, India, Mexico, Singapore, Israel, Morocco, Lebanon, Ethiopia and Brazil. Shop by country (1-time purchase), continent (4-month subscription) or world (12-month subscription). Prices starting at $21. Available at www.eat2explore.com and Amazon.

I had the opportunity to check out a fun box and was quite impressed with the recipes and the different spices included! I love the passport idea and think that this is great for families with young children!

Boosting your fertility

The most worrying part of planning for a baby is if you’re fertile. If you’re healthy and having regular sex – it should be no problem, in fact 70%-80% of couples get pregnant after around 6 months of trying. The best place to start is to getting yourself a Fertility Plus couples fertility test.

Boosting your fertility, the natural is an easy way to boost your chances of being fertile and having a child within 6 months or sooner. There are many natural sources and methods to increase your fertility – for an example; eating rich antioxidants foods like high in zinc and folate, which then improves the sperms quality. There many studies that are available to research, but to give you another example of the effects of taking more rich antioxidants foods or even supplements increase their chances by 23% – so, it’s definitely something to take to mind.

For women, carbs are one to cut out of a diet or, at least cut down on the amount you eat. Having a healthy weight by lowering your carbs can reduce insulin levels and also have shown to encourage fat loss – which helps maintaining menstrual regularity. Although some studies have proven to decrease fertility, it’s a 50/50 subject as another study explained that women that ate more carbs were at a 78% greater risk of ovulatory infertility. There are countless studies to take information from, or even asking your GP for more information on the topic.

When it comes to keeping a balanced sugar intake and ridding your body of excess hormones, fiber is the best source for that kind of nutrient – certain types of fiber will remove excess estrogen by binding it inside the intestines. The example here being a study found that eating just 10 more grams of high fiber cereal per day can lower your ovulatory infertility by 44% in women over 32 years old. Bottom line is studies have found that eating too much fiber can interfere with ovulation – so best to keep it balanced.

A healthy diet with mostly being a plant base can also help you with fertility – whether it be cutting down on the amount of meat you induce eat week, to each month can heighten your fertility. Switching to a more vegetable protein increase your chances and high meat eaters where found to be 32% less infertile than people that cut down meat and stuck to a more plane based diet.

As much as a plant based is an option to take when trying for a baby – what also has sparked interest and had some positive studies taken place is choosing high-fat dairy. One study has taken in account the effects of eating high-fat dairy foods and found that consuming one or more servings can increase your fertility by a staggering 27% which is great for the planning stages and gives you something to look further into.

To end the topic I would say; do your research, find what fits you the best and your lifestyle.

New Pacific Visions Wing at the Aquarium of the Pacific Will Open to the Public on May 24, 2019

Aquarium of the Pacific / Pacific Visions / EHDD / Clark Construction / Photography by Tom Bonner – Job ID 6421

The Aquarium of the Pacific announced in January that Pacific Visions, its first major expansion since its founding in 1998, will open to the public on May 24, 2019, with inaugural exhibitions and programming. Pacific Visions, a 29,000-square-foot, two-story, sustainable structure designed by the San Francisco-based architecture and design firm EHDD, will house a state-of-the-art immersive theater, exhibition space, an art gallery, and several new live animal exhibits. As the new focal point of the Aquarium, Pacific Visions will provide a platform to integrate the arts and sciences and will offer visitors innovative ways to explore their impact on planet Earth and the ocean and how to reduce it.

With the new expansion, the Aquarium continues its quest to create the aquarium of the future—a combination of aquarium, science center, art gallery, performing arts space, and a think tank to explore solutions to some of our world’s biggest environmental issues. Pacific Visions programs will tackle issues including: climate change, extreme weather, sea level rise, water shortages, and creating a food supply to feed an additional 2.5 billion people by farming the land and the sea.

Visitors enter Pacific Visions through a 2,800-square-foot art gallery. The inaugural art installation designed by Germany-based design company Convivial Studio immerses the visitor in sea life through a multi-channel video installation, spatial soundscapes, and sculptural relief walls enhanced with lighting.

The Aquarium and Convivial Studio have partnered with leading scientists and underwater photographers to capture the diversity of life that inhabits coral reefs in the Pacific Ocean and the microscopic world of plankton. The multimedia installation will comprise two three-minute projection sequences called Coral World and Plankton World, each created with generative systems behind the visuals to produce subtle changes in each film cycle. Using video of plankton specimens and a scientific database from biologist Christian Sardet, Convivial created a simulation with images of hundreds of planktonic species drifting and interacting in scaled-up compositions. Over recent years, Sardet and his team have developed new imaging techniques derived from medical applications to film the diverse types of plankton collected from the ocean. In addition, Convivial used high-resolution films of coral reefs filmed by diver Howard Hall to create panoramic seascapes.

The gallery will also include large-scale relief walls made of silicon and polymer materials that imitate the different textures found on coral reefs, overlain with video projections. Through touch combined with an oceanic soundscape recorded by Tim Gordon and Dr. Stephen Simpson in the Coral Triangle Region, visitors are virtually immersed in a variety of underwater environments.

“It’s been an honor to work with scientists around the world, learning more about their research and utilizing their data sets in our art installation for Pacific Visions,” shared Paul Ferragut and Ann-Kristin Abel of Convivial Studio. “We were charged by the Aquarium to create an experience that would inspire visitors with wonder at the richness of marine life on our ocean planet, and we look forward to seeing how the public responds to the Coral World and to the Plankton World.”

After passing through the art gallery, visitors will move into a 2,600-square-foot gallery, which will showcase an 18-foot-wide virtual waterfall with interactive elements that respond to movement. A 26-foot-wide by 8-foot-tall media wall features a film that introduces visitors to the history of life on Earth, the effects of humans on the planet’s biodiversity, and opportunities to turn the tide as the world’s population approaches 10 billion people in 2050. These resources will be further explored when visitors enter the two-story, 300-seat Honda Pacific Visions Theater.

The state-of-the-art theater houses a 130-foot-wide by 32-foot-tall screen that curves in a 180-degree arc. The theater also features a 30-foot-diameter floor projection disc, which will further immerse visitors in a virtual ocean environment in a space designed to host media-rich performances, panel discussions, community meetings, and educational seminars. The Honda Pacific Visions Theater content is being developed by the Aquarium and Cortina Productions in partnership with leading scientists, filmmakers, storytellers, and digital artists. The inaugural film will bring the ocean planet to life with stunning high-resolution imagery, and a variety of special effects. The film will investigate human production and use of food, energy, and water as resources that are essential to life and help viewers imagine what creative innovations will help manage these resources for the world’s growing population in the future. The film presents opportunities for positive change and invites viewers to design a sustainable future for both humans and nature through personal and collective choices.

In Pacific Vision’s final 5,000-square-foot culmination gallery designed by Bowman Change Inc. with Cortina Productions, visitors will have an opportunity to envision the steps we can take to create a better planet through interactive game tables, displays, and live animal exhibits. Three interactive tables exploring food, energy, and water will be set throughout the space. These large multiplayer interactive tables highlight California’s ongoing efforts to create resource sustainability. A fast-paced cooperative game challenges visitors through a series of personal consumer choices and civic choices to make the resources supply sustainable and provide enough food, water, and energy for California’s growing population. As time advances, players must work together to manage the resources to meet society’s needs while protecting the environment.

In addition to the tables, the gallery features a 50-foot interactive wall, where an array of ocean imagery transports visitors beneath the waves. Marine life swims through the current of the oceanscape. Visitors engage with the content of the wall by gesturing, activating content to learn about stewardship of the ocean, climate change, and sustainability. The culmination gallery will also feature a tall population tower that shows the projected growth of California’s population, records the global population in real time, and shows the projected population out to 2050. It also explores ways to stabilize and then reduce the global population.

Pacific Visions forms a natural extension of the Aquarium of the Pacific’s existing facilities. Visitors move from Pacific Visions to the second floor of the main Aquarium building to continue to the educational exhibits and experiences well-known to Aquarium visitors since 1998. A Pacific Visions app designed by Artifact Technologies will enable visitors to remain connected and share the experience with friends and family.

About the Pacific Visions Building

The Pacific Visions building is designed as a biomorphic structure that evokes the size, depth, variability, luminosity, and biological diversity of the Pacific Ocean. Complementing the Aquarium’s existing building, also designed by EHDD, Pacific Visions has a façade with over 800 individually shaped panels that respond to changing light and weather conditions throughout the day with varying colors to mirror the effect of sunlight rippling on the ocean’s surface. Having recently earned the distinctive Two Green Globes certification from the Green Globes® building rating system for demonstrating leadership in best practices regarding environmental efficiency, Pacific Visions’ sustainable design priorities include water and energy conservation, use of environmentally friendly materials, and greenhouse gas minimization.

How to Have a Fun Day Out with Kids

Spending time with kids is typically something most parents aspire to do. This may especially be true for parents who feel as though they’re being pulled at all sides and don’t spend as much time with their little ones as they would like. Having said that, it’s crucial that when you do spend time with your kids, you ensure that it’s fun and memorable. One way to do this is by taking the stress out of the days out that you have with them. On that note, here is how you can have a fun day out with the kids.

Plan Ahead

As you probably already know, if you want to have a successful day out with the kids, planning ahead is a must. Write down everything you’re going to need to have a successful day so that nothing is left out. When planning a day out, some things that you may want to include are what items you’re carrying out with you as well as what route you’re taking to get to your destination. If you have young kids, then things like toys to keep them distracted on the way there may be a necessity. You’ll also want to make sure the baby bag is loaded with essentials like diapers, wipes, liquids and extra changes of clothes.

Put Rules in Place

When you’re going out with kids, putting rules in place is so important. This is because when kids get a little too excited, they can also become unruly. The last thing you want is an accident to happen or for your child to go missing. Here are a few rules you may want to share with them.

Be Safe Near the Road: Road safety is really important when you’re out with kids. Remind them to avoid dashing across the road and to always wait for your go-ahead. You may also want to set rules such as them holding your hand before ever crossing as well as waiting for the green light for pedestrian crossing. If they’re riding scooters or bikes, you should especially enforce such rules.

No Talking to Strangers: Reminding your kids not to talk to strangers is also important when you’re out. Educate them on the dangers that are out there so that they take necessary precautions. They should also know your phone number and address by heart just in case they ever get lost.

No Running: Reminding your kids to walk and not run, especially in public places, is important too. This is because when they’re running, they put themselves at risk of having a slip and fall accident. If this does ever happen in a commercial place, visit

www.the-compensation-experts.co.uk and speak to a professional to see what your options are.

Take Enough Snacks

One of the essentials for a successful day out with kids is snacks. Without them, you may have moody and irritable kids on your hands. Ensure you pack a mixture of foods, and you include healthy ones too. Some great ones to try are popcorn that is low in salt, yogurt, carrot sticks, nuts, or a trail mix. You want snacks that will keep them energized and well nourished.

Abijah, May 16th Pet of the Week!

This beautiful, genteel man was found as a stray, but our staff thinks that he’s too regal of a dog to have been wandering the streets. He likely was forced to abdicate the throne through abandonment—at 10 years old! The staff dubbed him Abijah, the name of a Biblical king. Abijah appears to be a German shepherd and deserves to have his monarchy restored. Lower the drawbridge and pick him up at the P. D.
