Scotch Duct Tape “Tape On Back-to-School Contest”

Scotch Duct Tape is hosting a Back-to-School contest that asks teens to create an original back-to-school craft with duct tape and submit a photo that shows how they’re going back to school in style for a chance to win $1,000. The Tape On Back-to-School contest just launched and lasts until August 18th on the Scotch Facebook page.

 

Teen Vlogger, Sarai Jones, will be judging the contest and has a created a fun video with locker decorations for inspiration. The contest will include prizes for the top four winners with first place receiving $1000, second place receiving $500 and third and fourth place receiving $250.

5 Tips to Keep Your Baby’s Sleep Schedule

Traveling with your baby or young child can be challenging, especially when it comes to keeping his or her naptime and bedtime routines. Getting good rest is the key to keeping your little one in a good mood when you are away from home and on the go, so these five tips may come in handy if you are thinking about traveling in the near future:

 

1) Keep baby feeling safe and secure by following the same naptime and bedtime routine that you do at home. Bring along his or her favorite books, toys, and blankets – especially those that your baby associates with sleep (napping and bedtime).

 

2) When possible, try to include lots of outdoor activities during the day but stay close to home (where you are staying) in the evening, to help your baby wind down and fall asleep for the night.

 

3) Research and purchase a good travel crib.  Investing in a sturdy travel crib that offers good support and a comfortable mattress will be worth its weight in gold for this and other trips.

 

4) Bring along a source of soothing background noise for baby’s room: baby’s nighttime cd’s, a sleep sounds app for your mobile device, or sound machine.

 

5) Plan your daily activities around your baby’s nap schedule. If possible, let them sleep at least once per day in the travel crib or bed where they will be sleeping at night.

Meet Daniel Tiger’s baby sister on August 18!

On Monday, August 18, season 2 of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood will premiere on PBS KIDS with a special one-hour premiere celebrating the arrival of a new addition to the Tiger Family: Daniel Tiger’s little sister Margaret!
 
After the upcoming “Meet the New Baby” special, PBS KIDS will premiere two more new episodes on Tuesday, August 19, and Wednesday, August 20, focusing on Daniel and his family as they adjust to life with the baby. New digital content, including two online games and an app, will also launch in August. “Meet the New Baby” debuts on PBS stations nationwide and on the PBS KIDS Video Player, the PBS KIDS Video App, Apple TV and PBS KIDS’ Roku channel on Monday, August 18.

Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey have partnered with Juliet Blake to produce this remarkable film starring Helen Mirren in a role perfectly suited for her as Madame Mallory, proprietress of a celebrated French restaurant. An Indian family opens their own restaurant across the street much to her chagrin and leads to confrontations that are hilarious and awkward. KIDS FIRST! Film Critic Gerry O. comments, “This has a lot of cooking with a bit of love spiced in with the cooking, there are some fantastic one-liners that make the audience roar with laughter and this is all included in a fantastic adventure.” See his full review below.

What a fantastic way to wrap up the summer! I am not the biggest fan of romance films, which is what I expected from this film initially. However, The 100 Foot Journey is a funny, inspirational and delicious adventure that everyone will love.

This isn’t just a romance film. This has a lot of cooking with a bit of love spiced in with the cooking, there are some fantastic one-liners that make the audience roar with laughter and this is all included in a fantastic adventure.

The story starts when an Indian family that cooks at a school, has to leave the school for very sad reasons. They end up in France where they start a restaurant. However, across a 100 foot wide road, there is another, very different restaurant. A huge adventure starts with the chefs, the owners, and some other people too. If you want to find out what happens you got to watch the film!

This film is produced by a great partnership of Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey based on a famous novel, so it was bound to be a masterpiece, and it is! The actors are funny. They are very much in touch with their characters and they all fit their parts perfectly! The directing is very precise and it makes me want to read the book that the movie is based on!

My favorite scene is when they are a bit competing and there is a montage of different cooks/chefs from the two restaurants cooking pretty and yummy looking food. It shows you that, even though both restaurants are very different, both can make excellent food! It made me hungry and I swear I could smell it at times.

This movie has some adult oriented references and also some scenes little children won’t understand so a good age rating is 8 to 18. I also give it a solid 5 out of 5 stars for fantastic directing, cast, editing, ideas, and of course producing!

Wham-O for fun Summer time at the Beach!

When I was younger (too many years ago) I used to love to Boogie Board! It was one of my favorite things to do when I was in high school. I wasn’t an expert but I had so much fun! This summer we are spending a lot of time at the beach and thought that it would be fin to try boogie boarding again. I received a Morey Mach 7-42″ Boogie Board from our friends at Wham-O and went out to Seal Beach the other day to try it out. I had so much fun and actually caught a few decent waves. I really love this board! I just love the orange and yellow colors! It’s the perfect size, seems very durable and I can’t wait to try it at Newport Beach next!
