Lisbon, February 9th Pet of the Week

sooo cute!

Lisbon is a 2-year-old chocolate point Siamese type who entered Long Beach Animal Care Services in December. You should have seen him—ragged of fur, sick with a URI, and in short, was a cat you wouldn’t have looked at twice, even with the Siamese going on. Well, check him out now! He has a lot more going on! He’s soft and fluffy, has clear, inquisitive blue eyes, and is curious about everything. Lisbon would love to snoop around your house! To adopt or foster Lisbon, email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process, or call (562) 570-7387. Better yet, come meet him in person at Long Beach Animal Care Services, 7700 E. Spring St., Long Beach. Hours are Weds–Fri, 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m., and Sat–Sun, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Ask for ID#A712649.

(This rescue encouraged by the usual suspects.)

Sterling, Feb. 2 Pet of the Week

This sweet pup needs a forever home!

Sterling‘s ears look as if he’s saying, “Oh, no! I just saw my shadow, and it means six more weeks of staying in the shelter and maybe leaving it in not a good way!” Sterling came to Long Beach Animal Care Services as a stray in August and sadly is at risk of euthanasia because of his declining quality of life. This intelligent, playful 2-year-old is struggling with the stress and confinement that comes with shelter life. His soulful eyes fix on you, ready to listen to whatever you say, and hold dreams of the day when he can finally bask in the warmth of a loving home, with lots of walks, squeaky toys, and rubs behind those quirky ears. You can speed the process to help Sterling and any of our other pets see shadows no more by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Even better, stop by during Long Beach Animal Care Services’ walk-in hours every Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our shelter is located at 7700 E. Spring St. Ask for ID #A704771 to meet Sterling. We’re at capacity, and everyone needs homes!

Sergei, January 26 Pet of the Week

awwwww! Too adorable!

Brave Sergei had his leg mangled by a raccoon, and shelter veterinarians had to amputate the leg and quarantine him for six months until he was cleared for rabies. Through Sergei’s isolation, volunteers visited him and sent their love through the kennel bars because they couldn’t physically interact with him. He’s now all through with iso and is a solemn, affectionate, chill, tripod fellow who gets around his kennel just fine. He needs a loving home where he can get all the love and hugs he’s missed during all those months and stretch his three legs! To adopt or foster Sergei, email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process, or call (562) 570-7387. Better yet, meet her in person at Long Beach Animal Care Services, 7700 E. Spring St., Long Beach, at entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors). Ask for ID#A703457.

Zukes, January 19 Pet of the Week

Zukes needs a forever home!

Zukes, a good boy with wacky eyes, came to our shelter at Long Beach Animal Care Services in May as an emaciated stray. Thanks to the work of his longtime foster, he’s learned to enjoy walks and road trips, be they brief or extended. He’s very smart—he’s crate trained and potty trained, and he’s acquired obedience skills. He loves to play! Best of all, he’s packed on the pounds and now weighs about 70 of them! His foster has given him all the prep-school education he’s needed to be a good house dog, and now, he’s ready to go home for real! Since Zukes is in foster and not in the shelter, visit https://www.longbeach.gov/acs/our-animals/adoptions/dogs/, you can meet him by entering Zukes’ name in the required space, and follow directions. You can also email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or DogFoster@longbeach.gov, or call (562) 570-4925. and ask for ID#A698045 to meet Zukes. We’re over capacity, and everyone needs homes!

Trudy, January 12 Pet of the Week

awwwwwwww

Trudy, a little 2-year-old tortie, began her time at the shelter by not giving anyone the time of day. Two years on the street without experiencing affection and care from humans can do that to anyone. Trudy came in with a damaged left eye, which she still can’t see out of, and a poor appetite. But thanks to the loving cat volunteers, she’s had lots of love, care and good meals, and she’s now a sleek, purring sweetie-pie who loves petting and chin scritches. Now, all she needs is a forever home, with all the benefits! To adopt or foster Trudy, email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process, or call (562) 570-7387. Better yet, meet her in person at Long Beach Animal Care Services, 7700 E. Spring St., Long Beach, at entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors). Ask for ID#A699900.

Sequoia, January 5 Pet of the Week

such a cutie!

Sequoias are among the oldest trees in the world. Sequoia is among the longest-standing shelter residents. She’s been at our shelter for over half a year. Sequoia’s a good girl, full of love and energy for play and walks. She’s also as beautiful as her namesake. If you have an active lifestyle and can give this young shepherd a life with lots of walks, exercises and engaging activities and are familiar with the breed, please come to meet her! (It would help if you’re smarter than she is, too!) You can speed the process to adopt or foster Sequoia or any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Long Beach Animal Care Services hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 7700 E. Spring St. at the entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors). You can email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process for adopting or fostering Sequoia. Ask for ID#A700382.

LouLou, Dec. 29 Pet of the Week

awwwww

LouLou is a lovely domestic longhair, a gentle kitty without a mean bone in her furry body. She doesn’t hiss, scratch, bite, or act aggressively in any way—that is, if you happen to be a human. LouLou loves people but not other animals. If she’s the only pet in a loving home, her life will be perfect, and so will she! LouLou is spending her kennel time at the Paw Shoppe, Long Beach Animal Care Services’ offsite adoption center, located at 6416 E Spring St., Long Beach. To adopt or foster LouLou, visit her at the Paw Shoppe, and email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process, or call (562) 570-7387. Ask for ID#A696570.
