Holiday Pet Guide

Alzoo Hip & Joint Mobility Soft Chews

If you are like me, then your fur baby is definitely on your holiday shopping list! Here are a few favorites!

Soft Chews (90-count): Potent, natural blends of ingredients specifically formulated to improve target areas for your beloved dogs:   Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil and flax seed oil work wonders in Skin & Coat Soft Chews.

Probiotics, fennel, and other immune-supporting ingredients keep dogs’ seasonal allergies in check in Allergy Soft Chews.

Botanicals like chamomile manage stress (from fireworks to car rides to separation anxiety) for Calming Soft Chews.        Powerful antioxidants support normal inflammation response in Hip & Joint Mobility Soft Chews.

With additions to their popular concentrated shampoo, they will also add a concentrated stain and odor remover, as well as a new plant-based mobility collar and severe accident remover. Perhaps the most noteworthy of ALZOO’s new product offerings is a new category of natural soft chews, designed for your dog’s overall health and wellbeing. Please see below for more details on all ALZOO’s new product innovations.

Concentrated Shampoos: Three new concentrated powders omit single-use bottles and never ship water while working wonders on your pet’s bath routine. In three varieties (Soothing, Puppy Care, and Deep Conditioning) these shampoos will be a new go-to.

Mobility Collar: The first dog collar to naturally soothe joint discomfort with essential oils, ALZOO’s clinically studied innovation showed to reduce stiffness and improve mobility within 3 days of usage. Each collar lasts up to 30 days and is waterproof.

Severe Accident Remover: This highly absorbent lavender powder easily cleans up the worst types of messes pets leave behind without leaving behind any residue.

Concentrated Stain & Odor Remover: A more sustainable option to remove pet stains and odors while reducing carbon footprint with NO water shipping and no single-use plastic.

All Alzoo products are available on Amazon, Walmart.com and other national retailers and specialty stores.

Kandy, Dec. 22 Pet of the Week

awwwwww so sweet!

A little bit of Kandy goes a long way to make things sweet, not just for you but also for Kandy herself! Kandy, seen here in her cone of pride, is a 2-year-old Chihuahua who was found near Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier covered in a motor oil-like substance. Shelter vets found some damage on her eye. Wow, does she need a Christmas gift, like a real home with trusted people! This month, Long Beach Animal Care Services is offering a Naughty or Nice, Pick Your Own Price deal for adoptions. Shelter hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 7700 E. Spring St. at the entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors). You can email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process for adopting or fostering Linda. Ask for ID#A682262.
(This rescue encouraged by the usual suspects.)

Stanley, Dec. 8th Pet of the Week

Awwww such a sweetie!

“Sweet Stanley! He’s so cute!” You can tell that Stanley’s a volunteer favorite at Long Beach Animal Care Services! This adorable 7-year-old Dogo Argentino mix takes treats gently and then thanks his human buddy with a big kiss! You’d never believe what he was like when he entered the shelter in September—he was found as a stray, depressed, miserable and sick. Now, he’s all well and ready to roll. Wanna help him get everything he wants for Christmas? Adopt or foster Stanley! You can speed the process to do just that for Stanley and any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Even better, stop by during our new open walk-in hours every Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Our shelter is located at 7700 E. Spring St. Ask for ID#A707658 to meet Stanley. We’re at capacity, and everyone needs homes!

Frances, Dec. 1 Pet of the Week

AWWWWWWWW!

What, me elderly? A pet doesn’t have to be in their final years to be classified as seniors. Frances, in fact, is just 7 years old, but she’d be officially eligible for an AARP membership if they were extended to pets. Adopt a Senior Pet Month finished its run on Nov. 30, so we’ll feature this beautiful brown tabby who’s really in her middle years—the prime of life! Frances is curious about everything and will be very eager to explore your dwelling. She’ll also be an effective lap warmer during chilly evenings. To adopt or foster Frances, email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process, or call (562) 570-7387. Ask for ID#A706592.

Lady Gata, Nov. 26 Pet of the Week

awwww! Sooo precious!

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, and do we have a girl for you! Her name is Lady Gata, she’s 14 years old, and she’s a sweetheart. Heck, she was born this way. She’s used to a home, and sadly has lost hers. She’d love to curl up in a quiet, adult-only dwelling. Since this is Thanksgiving weekend, how about giving this lovely girl a million reasons to be thankful? To adopt or foster Lady Gata, email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process, or call (562) 570-7387. Ask for ID#A707857.

Smokey and Missy, Nov. 17 Pets of the Month

awwwwwwwww! Double the cuteness!

Smokey and Missy II were surrendered at the shelter by someone who claimed that they’d found the dogs. When the staff checked their microchips, it turned out that the finders were actually the owners. These two deserve better. November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, and we hope that Smokey, a senior 13-year old Labrador retriever, will go to a loving home with his caregiver, Missy II, a 7-year-old healthy German shepherd. Smokey has some health issues, but he deserves to live out his years with love instead of prematurely at our shelter. You can speed the process to adopt or foster Smokey and Missy II or any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Even better, stop by during our walk-in hours every Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Our shelter is located at 7700 E. Spring St. Ask for ID#A487310 to meet Smokey and ID#A710081 to meet Missy. We’re at capacity, and everyone needs homes!

Mako, Nov. 10th Pet of the Week

so adorable!

Mako (ID#A707234) is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois who’s an absolute dream doggie for people who love this loyal breed. He’s very friendly to humans, is nonreactive to other dogs, and absolutely loves to play. He’s also suffering from kennel stress and must be out of the shelter by Nov. 17. It’s hard for a socially intelligent animal to be confined to a kennel, even with the most loving volunteers and staff. They all want Mako to make it out in the best way possible and not through the alternative. To meet Mako, visit Long Beach Animal Care Services Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 7700 E. Spring St. at the entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors). You can email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process for adopting or fostering Mako. Ask for ID#A707234.

Beau, Nov. 3rd Pet of the Week

awwwwww, sooooooooo cute!

Say “Sit” to Beau, and he’ll take it as an invite to join you on the backyard furniture. Beau would so like that as a forever option—at only a year old, he’s about reached the limit of his shelter residence. His stress levels have increased because of shelter containment. Beau’s a lovely German shepherd who enjoys a good tennis ball toss and an energetic rubdown. Please don’t let his last days at the shelter be his last ones on the planet. You can speed the process of adopting or fostering Beau and any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Even better, stop by during our new open walk-in hours every Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Our shelter is located at 7700 E. Spring St. Ask for ID#A704264 to meet Beau.
