National Ice Cream Month with Graeter’s Ice Cream!

Who loves Ice Cream? Me! So, I was excited to try out a couple of flavors of Graeter’s Ice Cream! I really like the Vanilla Bean but my favorite is the Chocolate Chip! I ate that one so quickly that it only lasted a few days!

Graeter’s Ice Cream, a 147-year-old, family owned craft ice cream company, will celebrate National Ice Cream Month this July with a calendar of events meant to surprise and delight Graeter’s fans nationwide. The company begins the summer ice cream season by celebrating its 147th birthday in a variety of delicious ways, including birthday scoops for just $1.47, surprise bonus flavors, and a new flavor to be unveiled to support the Cincinnati Zoo.

So, how are you going to celebrate National Ice Cream Month? Let us know in the comments below!  I know I will be eating Graeter’s Ice Cream! There are still a few flavors I want to try!

Look for them at a store near you!

Happy National Ice Cream Month!

George is Pet of the Week!

unnamed (18)

George is a very loving, sweet boy who will paw at you at his kennel window, beggin for a playmate and the affection he misses from his former owners. George has unfortunately been diagnosed with FeLV, a feline viral disease that impairs a cat’s immune system and can cause other diseases like cancer. Humans and dogs can’t catch it, but it is contagious to other cats. Despite this, George has lived 7 years and has a chance at many other good years in a rescue, a sanctuary, or a home with either other FeLV cats or no other cats. He’s a lap sitter and a hand rubber, and wants nothing more than to relax by your side. Please consider saving an at-risk cat and giving him a home, as it is urgent that he find placement because of his FeLV status. Meet George at the Companion Animal Village at 7700 East Spring St., (562) 570-PETS. Ask for ID#A591115.

Summer is a great time for model rockets! Let your kids have a blast!

Are the kids getting bored yet? Maybe, not yet! With the summer heat…time at the beach can be fun! But, there will come a time this summer where you will probably hear “I’m bored!”  How about a Model Rocket? I recommend the Sonic Boom! (pictured above)

Model rockets have been both entertaining and educating kids for decades, and that hasn’t changed even in a world addicted to apps like Angry Birds, Candy Crush and Tank Hero. Today an estimated 9.6 million model rockets are launched every year by 2 million enthusiasts of all ages – roughly one-third of them girls – often igniting a lifelong interest in everything from science, math, engineering and technology to space travel.

Now that warm weather has arrived, you can nurture that interest – not to mention keep kids productively occupied outdoors. From ready-to-fly models that come fully assembled to kits that can be put together in roughly an hour, model rockets come in all sizes, colors and altitude capabilities from 100 to several thousand feet. Prices start at under $10, and every rocket is reusable with a new engine, igniter and igniter plug.

Bonus 1: model rocketry is a great activity for kids 10 and up (adult supervision recommended under 12), an age where it begins getting harder to keep kids engaged without digital devices.

We had the opportunity to try one out and we literally..had a blast! My son was impressed with how high up the rocket went. I’m surprised that we didn’t lose it on the roof!
