I really like this print and it really is a beautiful print. I was also happy that the canvas arrived nicely packaged so it would not be damaged during shipping. I am impressed with the quality of the canvas and it really is a nice addition to my living room wall. The colors are warm and I think this would also look great in an office or a bedroom. I truly love sunset pictures and this one makes me smile when I look at it! I love the size (12×16) as it could fit almost anywhere.

OgoSport Launches ‘OgoBILD Shorts’ Stop-motion Animation Website for Kids

bild_animate_ogosport_oba01

Earlier this month, OgoBILD Shorts launched (http://www.ogobild.com/shorts), by OgoSport, which is an online platform that gives kids an opportunity to showcase stop-motion animation movies they create with OgoSports Bild + Animate It kits.

The website pulls videos together in real-time from YouTube that use the keyword hashtag #OgoBildShorts and displays them for other community members to see.

In 2014, OgoSport released their award-winning OgoBild Animate It kits, that combines construction play with stop-motion animation moviemaking. Each kit contains Animate It! Express software, which was developed with Aardman Animations studio (the creators of Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run), the premier UK education stop-motion animation software.

After winning the 2014 Dr. Toy “Top 10 Creative Award” and Tillywig Toys “Tillywig Best Creative Fun Award”, OgoSport became inspired to create a platform that encourages kids and parents alike to create and share their stop-motion animation movies. That’s how OgoBILD Shorts was born.

OgoSport’s goal is to inspire families to share with the world their creations and encourage the next generation of moviemakers.

Get Your Kids Outside and Learning with the Help of Lucky, the TurfMutt

TurfMutt Storybook Snippet2

Parents, are you worried your child is getting a little too much screen time and not enough learning and sunshine? A real-life rescue dog named Lucky can help.

Lucky is the TurfMutt, a dog who was rescued from the side of a busy highway. Now living in a happy home, Lucky is “pawing it forward” by inspiring children to care for green spaces while learning science. And your child can join the TurfMutt on his mission to save the planet, one yard at a time.

Designed for children in grades K-5, the TurfMutt environmental stewardship and education program uses a unique cartoon-based story-telling format to make science accessible, entertaining and engaging for children and their families.

Scholastic Education, the world’s largest education provider, has brought Lucky and his team of cartoon superheroes, known as “The Outdoor Powers” to more than 1 million children in 35,000 classrooms and more than half a million teachers. The Outdoor Powers, which include Green Ranger, Professor Botany, Water Warrior, the Oxygenator, and Big Rooty, help TurfMutt fight environmental villains like Carbon Creep, Dust Demon, Dr. Runoff, and Heat Freak. TurfMutt and his friends invite children to join them on their adventures and chip in to become good environmental stewards.

The program website, www.TurfMutt.com, offers take-home sheets and learning activities for families, interactive games for children, and a digital storybook. An online writing tool also helps children create their own stories. Parents, teachers and homeschoolers can also download lesson plans. Videos offer tips on going green and a blog shares advice weekly on how improve your yard.

In the backyard science activities, kids can explore how grass keeps water and air clean and the planet cooler, how plants make rivers and lakes healthier, and how grass helps to prevent water pollution. The program’s materials are free and aligned to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) standards for grades K to 5. They’re also tons of fun!

Liam Ellis, of Sewickley, Pa., recently won the TurfMutt “Be a Backyard Superhero” Contest with a story about TurfMutt. “I thought it would be a cool thing to do a comic strip because I enjoy reading those. It was pretty fun,” said Ellis.

“[My story] was about how the hillside next to the parking lot, when it rains, the mud comes off the hills and into the street because we don’t have much grass to hold (the soil) it in,” said Ellis. “Also, our field doesn’t have trees so it’s very hot in the summer. My story shows how you can stop water runoff.”

Funded and managed by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute’s (OPEI) Research and Education Foundation, the TurfMutt program has been applauded by educators, youth and families. Since its inception in 2009, the program has reached 38 million students, teachers and families and is listed as a resource on the websites of the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy, the Outdoors Alliance for Kids, the Center for Green Schools, and many others.

“Any child can be a backyard superhero, just like Lucky the TurfMutt,” said Kris Kiser, President and CEO of OPEI and Lucky’s rescuer. “We hope that parents and children enjoy the online educational materials featuring TurfMutt and his friends. Our goal is to inspire people to go outside and take care of green spaces, which benefits our families and communities for generations to come. It’s all about pawing it forward.”

Halloween Horror Nights” dates are: September 18, 19, 25, 26, 27, October 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, 31, and November 1, 2015.

“Halloween Horror Nights” brings together the sickest minds in horror to immerse guests in a living, breathing, three-dimensional world of terror inspired by TV and film’s most compelling horror properties.  This year’s line-up includes:

All-New Mazes and Show:

  • “Guillermo del Toro Presents Crimson Peak: Maze of Madness” is inspired by the visionary filmmaker who directed, co-wrote and produced the upcoming October 16 Legendary and Universal Pictures feature film. The three-dimensional living replica of the film is designed to send guests spiraling through the chilling world and into the footsteps of Crimson Peak’s lead character, Edith Cushing, first as they venture from her home in America, then to the decaying and haunted Allerdale Hall mansion in a remote English countryside. With a foreboding “Beware of Crimson Peak” message that echos from Edith’s past, guests will navigate a labyrinth of paranormal tortured souls who have born witness to the estate’s dark history of unspeakable acts…and who continue to reside in vengeful, ghostly forms.

  • Bringing together the most sinister of scenes from all three films, “Insidious: Return to the Further,” investigates unexplained phenomena in the Lambert family’s eerie Victorian home as guests find themselves at a séance that unleashes chaos and horror. They’ll journey into “The Further” – a supernatural realm that houses tormented spirits – and face deadly ghosts and demons like the Woman in Black and Oxygen Mask Demon, that will stop at nothing to infiltrate the world of the living.

  • “The Walking Dead: Wolves Not Far,” inspired by season 5 of AMC’s critically-acclaimed, Emmy Award®-winning television series, this all-new maze will feature twice as many walkers in the longest and most gruesome maze ever built at Universal Studios Hollywood.  Following in the footsteps of “The Walking Dead” cast, guests will begin their journey at the Terminus safe-haven compound, where an unspeakable hunger has consumed the demented souls of those dwelling within. As the chaos ensues, guests will encounter even greater atrocities as they stumble upon dismembered “W” walkers, witness the horror of victims besieged by the living dead, and step onto the loading dock of the Del Arno Food warehouse to face hordes of “W” walkers.

  • The hilarity of this genre-defying blockbuster movie, This is the End, will take a dark turn in this all-new maze experience, “This is the End 3D,” that will come to life in hypnotic 3D. The end of the world will begin as guests head to the ultimate A-list party at James Franco’s new Hollywood Hills home before the Apocalypse strikes, and they find themselves trapped in a life-or-death struggle against the demons of the underworld.  With the fate of humanity at the crossroads of heaven and hell, “This is the End 3D” will offer defining moments for those guests brave enough to tempt the devil as their destiny hangs in the balance to be damned for eternity or raptured to heaven engulfed in a sea of blue light.

  • Halloween, hailed as one of the greatest horror films of all time and starring Jamie Lee Curtis in her acting debut, will come to life in the demented new experience, “Halloween: Michael Myers Comes Home.” The haunted maze will take guests through the tormented town of Haddonfield, where on one fateful Halloween night in 1963, a six-year-old child by the name of Michael Myers inexplicably and brutally stabbed his sister to death with a kitchen knife. Guests will relive the terror that a maniacal Michael Myers inflicted upon the once quiet town after his escape from a psychiatric hospital to take bloody revenge on new and unsuspecting victims.

  • The visually stunning, yet terrifying “AVP: Alien vs. Predator” maze is back by popular demand to entangle guests in the middle of an epic and primal war between the universe’s most deadly species in a horrifying haunted attraction inspired by the Twentieth Century Fox cult sci-fi franchise.  This menacing maze will bring to life the violent creatures cohabitating our world as it pits two rival alien species in a fight to the death with Earth as their battleground.  “AVP:  Alien vs Predator” will uncover a dangerous alien spaceship carrying a race of hunter aliens known as Predators and a threatening new alien life form that uses human hosts to propagate its species.  After crash landing in a remote section of America and escaping to the countryside, the Alien and Predator become hunter and prey with guests caught in the crossfire.

  • The all-new “Terror Tram: Survive the Purge” experience, inspired by Universal Pictures’ blockbuster film series, invites guests to a disturbing “Purge Party,” luring them with exclusive access to the world-famous backlot and thrusting them into the film’s depraved world in which all crime is declared legal as part of the government’s annually sanctioned 12-hour Purge, and where citizens take to the streets to dispose of the country’s less desirable humans without fear of retribution. Recognizing that not all citizens choose to hunt during The Purge, the newly endorsed “Purge Party” welcomes guests to honor this proud national tradition by watching the night’s dramatic events unfold on large video screens set up around the famed Universal backlot – until the experience quickly turns into an unforgettable living nightmare.

  • Jabbawockeez, the highly-accomplished, award-winning hip hop dance group and universally recognized as America’s best dance crew, will bring their innovative choreography, intricate synchronized style and signature white masks to Universal Studios Hollywood in an electrifying all-new show created exclusively for “Halloween Horror Nights.” Currently starring in the acclaimed “PRiSM” show at the Luxor in Las Vegas, and following up with a newly reimagined performance at MGM Grand Las Vegas this fall, the Jabbawockeez are considered dance movement pioneers, having shattered the glass ceiling for dance groups worldwide as the first dance crew to ever headline their own show in Las Vegas.

Scare Zones:

  • “The Purge: Urban Nightmare,” inspired by Universal Pictures’ disturbing blockbuster films, will greet guests with pure unadulterated fear, bringing to life the turmoil and pandemonium that awaits those vulnerable to masked vigilantes in search of new victims during the government’s annually sanctioned killing spree.

  • “Exterminatorz” introduces hideous hybrid creatures—part pests, part human—spawned from years of dangerous chemicals recklessly dumped down the drains by irresponsible humans. These now persecuted pests arise from the cesspools to turn the tables and retaliate on their human oppressors.

  • “Corpz” features an army of decaying World War I soldiers known as “The Lost Generation,” who have risen from their dank, muddy graves to haunt the streets of old Paris.

  • Krampus, the demonic Christmas Devil, returns in “Dark Christmas,” a Pagan-themed scare zone where demonic creatures hunt disobedient children and drag them to hell.

As a complement to the nighttime event, Universal’s most popular rides and attractions will also be open to guests.

Dry Dog Shampoo by Paw Choice is a Must-Have!

ef28520a3fa5e8135453a2e08a37ae6e38171cd4

I really like this dry dog shampoo! It smells really good (mango & pomegranate scent) and I like that it is gentle and safe. My pup isn’t crazy about baths so this is great for in-between baths. I like that it natural and water-less. My pup also tends to have dryer skin during the summer months so I really like that this one does not dry out his skin. It’s super easy to use and basically is a great way to keep my pup smelling good. My pup is a happy pup too! He is happy that there is no bath tub involved!

Z for Zachariah – A very thought provoking story with an unexpected ending

ZforZachariah

This sci-fi thriller tells a story about two men and a young woman who find themselves in an emotionally charged love triangle as the last known survivors after an apocalyptic disaster that wipes out most of civilization. Starring Chris Pine, Margot Robbie and Chiwetel Ejiofor, it is a film that is beautifully shot and scored and focuses on the interactions between these survivors. KIDS FIRST! Film Critic Gerry O. comments, “Some films make you cry, some films make you laugh and some films just amaze you. Well, this one will make you think and digest information that you will see.” See his full review below.

Z for Zachariah

Reviewed by Gerry O., KIDS FIRST! Film Critic, age 13

Some films make you cry, some films make you laugh and some films just amaze you. Well, this one will make you think and digest information that you will see. Z for Zachariah may not be the most romantic film nor may it be an adventure, but hours after watching it, I was still thinking about what this film represents

The story is set in a Valley. However, it is a post-apocalyptic time. The area outside of the Valley is completely covered in radiation, but somehow the valley is clean. At the moment, only one girl lives there. However, two more men join her at her farm, and soon friendship takes an unexpected turn. If you would like to find out what happens, you have to see the film.

I honestly think the film is good, but the real impact starts after it ends. Let me explain. The film’s story makes it feel like it is building up to something big. But the actual “boom” comes to you after the film as you start to think a lot about the story and the characters, which is very unique and I think, genius. The acting and directing is interesting. It feels like the actors truly live through their characters. However I think the ending is a bit abrupt. If there was an epilogue or something like that, it would have felt more complete – even if it was only symbolic.

My favorite scene is when one of the men arrives and he already is rather friendly with the main female character. They just accomplished something big and they decide to have a bit of fun. The girl dresses up the dog and it is one of the few funny scenes. I like how it shows people that even after the worst possible things, we can still have fun and laugh.

Honestly this film is rather mature and it’s a drama. So, I recommend it for ages 12 to18. Kids this age could appreciate the story and the concept of this thought-provoking film better than younger ages. I give this film four out of five stars because, although the film has wonderful acting and directing, I think the story was a bit incomplete and some scenes were stretched out which made it a bit boring. This film is in theaters on August 28 so, if you’re a sci-fi fan, put it on your list.

Harvey’s Picnic Table Cloth is a Real Must-Have this Summer!

543d5176db6e11f3ed87b3c43d93a164d6a9a558

Summer time means BBQs and picnics! Harvey’s Picnic Table Cloth is a real must-have this Summer! It is made from vinyl and can be used indoors and outdoors. I really like the gingham (red and white checkered) pattern. But, most of all I like that it is reusable, easy to clean and that there are 6 cloth clamps that are included. Where I live, even though it is sunny, it often gets quite breezy so keeping a table cloth on an outside table can be quite difficult. But, with this table cloth, there is no longer that issue! The clamps work really well and are super easy to use!
