Make fond memories at Panera Bread this Mother’s Day! The perfect place to go this Mother's Day for Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch!

Looking for the perfect place to go for Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch this Mother’s Day? Panera Bread is the place to go! I have to admit that I have only been there in the past for the bagels. But, I had the opportunity today to go there (Torrance location) to experience more than my favorite bagels.  I tried the Egg White, Avocado & Spinach Breakfast Power Sandwich and it is sooo good! Egg whites, slice of Vermont White Cheddar, fresh avocado, fresh baby spinach and tomato on a sprouted grain bagel flat…it was simply delicious!

My son prefers their chocolate chip bagels with cream cheese. I think I have already said I love their bagels! They also have Baseball Shortbread Cookies that children (and grownups) will love! My son had to have one of these to go! Panera Bread does have a great menu with Soups, Sandwiches, Salads, Pasta and more. There really is something for everyone. I admit I had to go off my diet a bit and get the Cinnamon Crunch Scone to go! It is so good with cinnamon chips, cinnamon crunch and a white icing glaze! But, my ultimate favorite is the Strawberry Poppyseed & Chicken Salad! This is just delicious! It has chicken, romaine lettuce, fresh strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, mandarin oranges and pecans with fat-free poppyseed dressing. It’s just too good to be a salad!

I really also need to point out that you really should join the MyPanera Rewards. I just joined online prior to my visit and you really do earn rewards. I received a complimentary bakery item and a Frozen Caramel Smoothie drink because I had signed up. It’s really a great reward program! You can sign up online by visiting their website. You can also see their menu and find locations near you. I highly recommend Panera Bread for Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day with Skype! New moms can make sure they celebrate the moms/mother in laws in their life while also making sure they get celebrated.

Mother’s Day is a time for mom to relax and enjoy the day with her children. But, mom’s expectations may fall short this year. According to a new global study of Skype users conducted by Idea Lab for Microsoft, more than half (58%) of moms surveyed expect to see their children in-person, but less than half (44%) of children actually share the same plans. And, more than half (58%) of grandchildren will not see their grandmother in person.

Now that you’re a mom, you’re likely more sensitive to the importance of the day and want to be fair to the others moms in your life, but let’s face it: You want to be celebrated too!  Plus, if you’re looking for a weekend getaway with your spouse to celebrate your fabulosity but still want to see your glowing baby’s face, (so that no one judges you!) drop him or her off with grandma and grandpa for the weekend…and then let them call you  on Mother’s Day from their smartphone, tablet, PC or smart TV!  Skype just announced last week that group video calling is free so you can join your own mom AND your inlaws (and whoever is watching your baby) all at once.  The more, the merrier…and the quicker you get the whole job done at once!

According to internationally-recognized parenting expert, Babble blogger and busy mom of two Jeannette Kaplun, technology, like Skype, makes it completely possible to spends some quality time with your own mother and mother-in-law without sacrificing your entire day. Here are few quick ideas:

  • You’re a new mom.  There’s little time to go buy a store-bought card let alone take a shower!  Plus, who wants to deal with that installing the car seat for a short ride?  Rather than a store-bought greeting card for your inlaws , create a personalized one just for her with special photos of you and your newborn together. Share the file with her via IM while you are video chatting, and watch her surprise and delight. You won’t even have to leave your house to make the magic!
  • Grandma definitely expects to see her pride and joy on Mother’s Day but you don’t necessarily want to spend your (now) limited funds or time on airfare or a road trip.  Enlist your kids to help out!  Since younger kids don’t always like to speak, have them sing a song.  Or, if you have a newborn, you can sing the song and make your baby dance in front of the camera. Use the Skype app on your Smart TV to do a video call, and have your kids do a special dance routine to their favorite music for grandma. If you don’t own a Smart TV, simply use your tablet, smartphone or computer.

  • You can also send a Skype gift card so it’s easy for mom connect with you on Mother’s Day, and any day. Once done, go back to you own celebration.

  •  Take a virtual walk down memory lane. With a baby on your arm, you don’t have time to scrapbook or make things all nice and pretty!  Quickness is key!  Create a photo album of special moments you’ve spent with your mom or mother in law. Upload and share it on OneDrive , then reminisce with your mom or mother in law on a voice or video call.

Or was it all just a wonderful dream? / When the grocer runs out of masa (cornmeal), George and Marco are worried they won’t be able to make Marco’s famous tortillas for his abuela’s birthday. Can George reassemble the flag in time for the big unveiling? / “Fearless George” and his comrades (aka Steve and Betsy) are playing a make-believe adventure with George’s toys. Even oars, rubber boots, pots, pans, and yellow rain hats won’t empty the green water. Hot and tired, George gets a refreshing idea while sipping lemonade from his super long straw. Simple siphon to the rescue!

As the school year ends, National Teacher Appreciation Month is the perfect opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and dedication teachers around the country have contributed in and out of the classroom this school year. This May, Press the President, an online collaborative blog, is asking Americans to recognize the work of teachers in every classroom and share their actions with our readers. With Teacher Appreciation Day taking place on May 6th and National Teacher’s Week the first full week in May, there are plenty of opportunities to commend teachers and their hard work. Below are some tips from the editorial staff at Press the President on how you can celebrate this May:

  • Write about Issues that Impact Educators in Your District – President Obama’s recently released budget proposal for FY2015 includes a 1.9 percent increase for education from the FY2014 level recently passed by Congress. Many teachers feel this is a step in the right direction, but others feel that a lot more can be done. What do you think? Write about issues for Press The President and get the word out!

  • Appreciate the Unappreciated: Many programs that are not considered part of the core curriculum are being cut by public schools such as sports, fine arts, and music programs. Urge your elected leaders to stand up for educators and students by restoring funding for these programs along with early childhood education, special education, college work-study and many others.

  • A Card from the Class – Technology has taken over our lives, but people still love hand-written notes. Getting the all the students in the class to each make a card or sign one really big card for their teacher is a great way to show teachers their students care about them.

  • A Gift Card – Teachers often use their salaries to buy classroom supplies regardless of whether they are in a public, private, or charter school. A great way to say thank you is by giving your child’s teacher a gift card to their favorite store. Check your state laws to see how much you can legally give to public, state employees.

  • Personalize It and Style It – Giving an apple is a thing of the past. Nothing says, “you’re special” like a personalized handbag or desk ornament. With that special touch, teachers will always remember the child and class that gave them the extra special tote bag or engraved trinket.

Press the President wants you to share your story of supporting teachers on our website and social media outlets. There are many issues facing education in this country, and we want to see how you and your community are celebrating teachers. To submit a picture, either visit our website and submit, or tweet @PTP_US or post on our Facebook wall with the hashtag #ThankATeacher or #teacherappreciation.
