Marshmallow, Sept. 9th Pet of the Week!

Autumn’s in the air, bringing thoughts of comfy places to sit and dream with a hot cup of cocoa—pumpkin spice or otherwise— topped with a great, big Marshmallow! Our Marshmallow will love belly rubs by an open fire or a warm vent; and he’ll be ready for a great toy chase in the crisp air, bringing out his fun, goofy self! Marshmallow is 2 years old and weighs 65 pounds. He presented skin allergies when he first came to us, and they may need to be addressed again. But anyone who sees how awesome he is won’t let that spoil their Marshmallow moments! Our shelter’s adoptions are conducted through appointment only, so call 562-570-PETS or email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to meet Porter. Ask for ID #A655235.

Belle, Aug. 19th Pet of the Week!

Well! It’s Belle! She’s peeping around the corner to see if there’s a shelter volunteer who wants to toss her a toy, which she dearly loves to play with. Or maybe, just maybe, there’s a human who wants to take home a shy but loving 2-year-old husky who was left abandoned at the shelter. Belle is one of many huskies available to adopt at Long Beach Animal Care Services, so if you want one of these big, furry cuddlers, check them out at longbeach.gov/acs/pets/adoptions/dogs/. And remember Belle as well! Adoptions are now conducted through appointment only, so call 562-570-PETS or email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to meet Belle. Ask for ID#A655339.

Levi, Aug. 12th Pet of the Week!

Levi is all ears trying to hear if his adopter is out there. Actually, Levi’s all ears anyway, as you can see. He’s also all blue eyes, all handsome seal-point Siamese fur coat, and all playful with fishing-pole toys. Levi’s also no friend to other cats—he’s territorial and has bitten. He needs someone who understands his moods and will equip him with a nice cat tower to hang in and his own space, with you in it often. With the right human, he’ll be a wonderful only child! Shelter adoptions are conducted through appointment, so contact PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to meet Levi. Ask for ID#655339.

River, Aug. 5th Pet of the Week!

Whenever 8-year-old River sees a human, she runs like whitewater rapids and greets them. When other dogs are nearby, the waters stay calm, and she drops anchor and greets them nicely. River was found as a stray—she probably had a family, but who knows where they went? Consider paddling down to the shelter and taking River home to foster or, better yet, adopt. How lovely it would be to let a River run through your life! Our shelter’s adoptions are conducted through appointment only, so call 562-570-PETS or email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to meet Smitty. Ask for ID#A659935.

Summer, July 29th Pet of the Week!

Summer is the season for big smiles, lying in the sun, and showing your legs—could be why our very own Summer is so named! She’s all legs, in fact, and that smile will brighten your day at least as much as the sun does. Summer is a young girl, 75 pounds and suspected to be a Lab mix. She’s a little reserved at first, but once she warms up, she’s fun during any season! Our shelter’s adoptions are conducted through appointment only, so call 562-570-PETS or email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to meet Summer. Ask for ID#A659446.

Porter, July 22nd Pet of the Week!

Porter came to our shelter as a stray. He’s a 3-year-old Lab mix, with that sweet Lab disposition that immediately endeared him to our volunteers, as it will to you. Porter is looking for a port where he can finally drop his anchor and drift off for a nap. Then, he’ll bound back up, all shipshape for some shenanigans! Our shelter’s adoptions are conducted through appointment only, so call 562-570-PETS or email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to meet Porter. Ask for ID#A658985.

Lilo, July 15th Pet of the Week!

It’s said that if you dream of an orange cat, you might be craving a new hobby or a new sweetie pie. We think it’s the latter. Lilo is a 1-year-old orange fellow whose family had to give him up, and he needs a new someone to love him. Lilo is likely the cat of your dreams, whether you dreamed of an orange cat or did not! By the way, if you adopt an adult cat any day in July, your fee will be waived—one more reason to take Lilo home! Shelter adoptions are conducted through appointment, so contact PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to meet Lilo. Ask for ID#A658751.

Thelma, July 8th Pet of the Week! Update: Has been adopted!

Meet Thelma, a dear little cattle dog seeking her herd. She was found as a stray, apparently looking for cows in all the wrong places, and now she’s found how much fun the human volunteers are when she works her charms on them. Not sure how she is with other pets or children, but she sure likes adults! Thelma’s about 2 years old, has a calm demeanor and would love to be home on the range with you. Our shelter’s adoptions are conducted through appointment only, so call 562-570-PETS or email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to meet Thelma. Ask for ID#A659580.
