Mandy, March 25th Pet of the Week!

Here’s Mandy, posing with her big, generous grin amongst the posies. Mandy, 5 years old, was found as a stray, and now that the shelter volunteers are walking with her and cuddling her, she has plenty to smile about. She has a gentle, mellow disposition, although she does get eager on a walk and likes to pull. She’ll need some leash training. Want to make Mandy smile even bigger? Take her home with you! Because the shelter is closed to the public, adoption appointments are conducted through appointment, so call 562-570-PETS or email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to meet Mandy. Ask for ID#A6287411.

The most charming places in France

When looking for what will most captivate our senses, there is nothing better than fresh snow on the Alps’ majestic peaks or the amazing emerald waters on a deserted Corsican beach. Sometimes, the beauty is as simple as the clear winter light, which falls gently on a house’s pastel facade in a village or even the sweet harmony of a majestic tower in a secluded place. The most dreamy places in France are presented in this list, for your post-covid trip, with Marseille’s pure aroma to guide you throughout your journey.

Plateau De Valensole, Provence

When it comes to lavender, the right time is everything: to experience the full beauty of the vast purple expanses with the intoxicating scent wafting through the atmosphere, visit it in June and July, when the flowers are full of bees. Explore lesser-known places like Sault or Forcalquier and make a stop at street vendors, where you will find honey and lavender products at the best prices.

Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, French Riviera

Hidden between Nice and Monaco, this secluded little gem is located on a beautiful, small peninsula and is much more than a luxury resort. In this quiet village, protected from the wind, with its lush vegetation, there is a wonderful, rocky path along the bright sea for explorers, as well as a national museum at Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild with impressive, exotic flowers.

Menton, French Riviera

Surrounded by mountains, this quiet town on the Italian border looks like vintage postage of “Dolce Vita”. The emerald beach, the cramped houses, the tons of sorbet ice cream and the baroque churches on the cobbled streets are just the beginning. At the end of the promenade, the Jean Cocteau Museum, designed by Ricciotti, shines in the sun like a white diamond, and you can get there after a stroll through the city’s tropical gardens and muskrat lemon groves.

Arles, Provence

Whether wandering on the Rhone banks or in the medieval alleys of the historic centre beyond the Roman arena, this city is unique. It looks like a painting by Van Gogh and combines ancient history with adventure, as in addition to the wetlands, you will find a refuge full of birds, where also free wild white horses roam.

Cape Corse, Corse

Less than an hour’s drive from the bustling port of Bastia, this wild peninsula of tiny fishing villages, towers and low sand dunes is a small seaside wonder. Get to Macinaggio and take the coastal path, which is wrapped around the rocks. There you will find sheep and cows grazing in the meadow, just behind the creeks of the emerald and turquoise sea, while the mountain slopes are covered with fragrant wildflowers, rosemary and thyme.

Megeve, French Alps

This luxurious, sunny resort was upgraded by Baroness Noemie de Rothschild a century ago to compete with St. Moritz and continues to attract affluent citizens looking for old-fashioned glamour on their vacation. Surrounded by enchanting peaks and stunning views of Mont Blanc, the nostalgic atmosphere of Megeve includes snowy pines, carriages and a picturesque cobbled square, and worth a visit in the summer when the hiking trails are full of wildlife.

But of course, we are talking about a resort, where all its magic unfolds in front of you during the winter months, where you can spend your time skiing on its snowy slopes and having fun in its modern facilities. Now with the company Erna Low, you can choose a complete accommodation package in this wide area of Mont Blanc, at affordable prices, to live the dream vacation you have been planning for a long time.

Professions that you can do from the comfort of your own home

The coronavirus pandemic has brought upside down in our daily lives. It is a fact that just one year ago when things started to get serious about the cases, the uncertainty about the management of the pandemic had turned red.

With the exception of a few companies that took measures to protect the health of their employees in advance, advising them to start working from home, most companies in most countries were forced to move to remote work/telework after enforcement of various health measures to manage the coronavirus pandemic, which lasted – and continue to last – for months and months. Of course, this was a big change for several countries, because this new working situation was something completely new for them and their people.

Nevertheless, teleworking has become part of our daily lives, as it has proven to be an “adequate” way of working, while at the same time it is a way of working that could last even after the end of this pandemic. Needless to say, it is important to note that while many professions can make the most of teleworking, there are professions that cannot be done remotely. So what are some of the professions that one can practice from the security of one’s home today?

Personal trainer

Does it seem strange to you? With tools like Skype or FaceTime or Zoom etc., a personal trainer can easily communicate with his clients, helping them to set fitness goals and setting them a training program, while at the same time he can monitor their progress online. We all know that the real experience of a gym can not be replaced, but online fitness classes really have nothing to envy from others, offering you a fairly practical and effective workout experience.

Article Writer

Another profession that can take advantage of teleworking is the profession of columnist or writer. Many websites that promote the field of information do not make the employee’s presence in the workplace necessary. After all, with a good laptop, a columnist or writer can work from the comfort of his own home.

Professor (Tutor)

The majority of foreign countries use e-learning daily for various issues of education and teaching. In addition to home education, many pupils, students and people who are just interested in learning use e-learning to take online lessons from the comfort of their own home with a teacher or tutor who may be thousands of miles away.

Running an Online Store

Another area that has begun to grow in recent years in most countries is online stores. Social media advertising products to a targeted audience, and some good photos or videos can make a small business flourish dramatically.

Many stores turned to online sales after closing due to measures to curb the coronavirus pandemic. To sell your products online, you do not need more than a smartphone and laptop to be able to advertise them on social media.

It is important to mention that, during the first lockdown, Instagram launched the “support small business” application where small businesses could be more visible to the general public. Something that gave a little financial “breath” to these companies.

Voice actor

Finally, a not so ordinary but highly creative profession is that of voice actor. The voice actor is significantly different from the normal actor of theatre and cinema, and one of the most important is that the voice actor can perform his work from the comfort of his home. Having the appropriate recording and mixing equipment, he can record the content himself, working with any kind of client, without any geographical restrictions. This opening in this field of acting was realized by the company Voquent, in which you can join its huge creative team and practice the profession of voice actor, with quite competitive salaries and numerous development opportunities.
