Brad Kitt and Angelina, Sept. 6th Pets of the Week!

He was voted the Sexiest Kitten Alive (by us, of course), and she is one of the most lithe, lissome little mystery girls we know! They’re Brad Kitt and Angelina, our Long Beach Meower Couple who get on a lot better than their human counterparts. Brad Kitt has wayyyy more attitude and good looks than his namesake and will be your number-one guy—he’ll melt your heart with those piercing green eyes! Angelina has sultry looks and a fixed gaze that lets everyone around her know that she’s all business. Meet both these superstars on the shelter side of the Companion Animal Village at 7700 East Spring St., (562) 570-PETS. Ask for ID#A612663 for Angelina and ID#A614027 for Brad Kitt.

(This rescue encouraged by the usual suspects.)

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies – So Hilarious! True to TV Show, More Songs and Characters

It seems to the Teens that all the major superheroes out there are starring in their own movies-everyone but the Teen Titans, that is. But de facto leader Robin is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously super villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line.

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies

By Dariana Alvarez, KIDS FIRST Film Critics, age 12

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is such a hilarious film. During the premier at the Chinese Theatre, the laughs echoed around the room. The film stays true to the TV show, with inside jokes about Robin’s baby hands and beautiful butt. Even with those things from the TV show, the film still makes sense if you haven’t watched the show before. And, there are new things for people who have watched the TV show.

This film is about the Teen Titans trying to get their own movie in order to become official superheroes. To do that, they need an arch nemesis and they come across Slade (Will Arnett). This causes them to get a movie deal with Jade Wilson (Kristen Bell) who has some ulterior motives.

As an original viewer of the TV show, I can tell you that it’s classic Teen Titans with many added aspects. One of which is the songs. There are occasional songs in the TV show, but this movie is jam-packed with amazing songs by Jared Faber that help keep it interesting and move the story along. They are so catchy that I could hear people singing them as they left the theatre. The jokes in this film only make it better. This film just keeps you laughing throughout and at the edge of your seat with all the action.

The cast is really spectacular! They have the original five from the TV show – Tara Strong (Raven), Greg Cipes (Beast Boy), Khary Payton (Cyborg), Hynden Walch (Starfire) and Scott Menville (Robin). They also have a couple of new voices, including Kristen Bell (Jade Wilson), Will Arnett (Slade), Nicolas Cage (Superman), Stan Lee (Stan Lee), Halsey (Wonder Woman) and Lil Yachty (Green Lantern) who also does a remix of Go! My favorite character would have to be Beast Boy, because he is so hilarious and is always there for all the Titans. My favorite line is Robin’s catchphrase, “Crack an egg on it… ca caw!” It’s just so ridiculously funny and random.

The message of this film is the classic: “You don’t have to be super to be a superhero, you just have to be yourself.” I give this film 5 out of 5 stars, because it kept me laughing and smiling for an hour and a half. I recommend it for ages 7 to 14, because the jokes are more geared to older audiences, with some really more for adults. Check it out when it opens, July 27, 2018.

Pick of the Litter: Adorable Family Movie That You Just Fall In Love With

Pick of the Litter follows a litter of puppies from the moment they’re born and begin their quest to become Guide Dogs for the Blind, the ultimate canine career. Cameras follow these pups through a two-year odyssey as they train to become dogs whose ultimate responsibility is to protect their blind partners from harm. Along the way, the dogs meet a community of dedicated individuals who train them to do amazing, life-changing things in the service of their human. The stakes are high and not every dog can make the cut. Only the best of the best. The pick of the litter. KIDS FIRST! Film Critic Dariana A. comments, “It’s a great family movie with all of the cute dogs. Pick of the Litter follows such a sweet storyline that you just fall in love with all of the dogs and their journey through many different homes.” See her full review below.

Pick of the Litter

By Dariana A., KIDS FIRST Film Critics, age 12

Pick of the Litter is such an adorable movie. It has an amazing topic that not many people know about, so you are not bored. It’s a great family movie with all of the cute dogs. Pick of the Litter follows such a sweet storyline that you just fall in love with all of the dogs and their journey through many different homes.

Pick of the Litter follows a litter of puppies from the moment they are born through their journey to become Guide Dogs for the Blind. The “P” litter has to go through two years of training with many different owners to train them on their journey to become Guide Dogs. But only the pick of the litter will get the chance to become Guide Dogs.

This documentary is such a feel-good movie. There are some moments that bring tears to your eyes. When my family and I watched the movie, it was fun for us to guess which dogs would pass the tests and become Guide Dogs. All the dogs are so cute and the relationships the dogs go through with their trainers and finally when they get paired with their official owners, is very emotional. The five dogs in the litter are Patriot, Potomac, Phil, Primrose and Poppet. All the dogs have such unique personalities. My favorite out would have to be Patriot because he has a lot of different trainers and he has so much energy. He has the biggest personality. He also ends up with such a sweet family and really helps the family he’s with. The movie has so much for people of all ages. The charming dogs are enjoyable for everyone and the story they tell is delightful and sends a great message.

The message The Pick of the Litter sends is that dogs go through a lot of work to become Guide Dogs and, even if they don’t become one, they still bring joy to whoever owns them. I recommend this film for ages 8 to 17. There is so much to learn about the training Guide Dogs go through and this film has lots of things for kids to learn. I give it 5 out of 5 stars, because it has such a great topic and the dogs are super adorable. You can find this film in a theatre near you on August 31, 2018 so, check it out!

La Jolla is the place to visit and Pantai Inn is the place to stay!

Summer is almost over but is it really ever over in sunny So Cal? I’m sure that we will have our sunny weather on and off throughout the year! If you love the ocean, sea lions and art galleries then I know the perfect place for you to visit! La Jolla is one of my all time favorite places to visit in San Diego! My family had such a wonderful time visiting this past August and if I could only visit one place in Southern California every summer it would be La Jolla!

If you know me at all..you know that I love Sea Lions! I was a volunteer Education Docent with the Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles for a year and am still a volunteer on their outreach program. Even though I am not able to volunteer as often as I would like now-a-days…sea lions are special to me. You can see so many sea lions up close in La Jolla although I do recommend keeping a good distance from them.

One of my favorite places in La Jolla is La Jolla Cove. It is a beautiful small (but not too small!) cove and beach surrounded by cliffs.

I just love to see sunsets at the beach and sunrises! This trip I didn’t catch any sunrises because it was overcast in the morning but when it isn’t overcast, seeing a sunrise at the Cove is a must! It simply is breathtaking!

So, where should you stay in La Jolla? In my opinion..there is only one place to stay! Pantai Inn!

This place is simply an amazing place to stay! The location is perfect and the service is amazing! Every single staff person is friendly and it’s a beautiful place to stay! But, Pantai Inn is much more than just a beautiful place to stay and great service. It’s all the little extras such as Tea and coffee in the lobby and fresh baked cookies in the afternoons to the Chef prepared breakfast in the mornings. They even bring chocolate bars and place them on your bed in the afternoons! We stayed in a 3 bedroom and the design of the place is just beautiful! Pantai Inn’s one-of-a-kind architecture and dedication to creating a luxurious home-away-from-home makes it the ideal getaway spot year-round, a veritable oasis on the iconic California coastline that can’t be beat. Whether for business travelers, lovers of the great outdoors, families, couples, or groups of friends looking for that next great adventure, there is simply no better place to make an autumn or wintertime escape as the temperature cools down.

But, like I said ….it’s definitely all the little things that make this place a real gem!

And, you can walk down to the water and to the Village. I loved walking from the Pantai Inn to the shops, restaurants and Art Galleries! Visiting the Art Galleries is a must! My favorites were the National Geographic Art Gallery and Legends Gallery.

Such amazing Artwork and Legends Gallery had a Peanuts (Snoopy!!!) exhibit which I’m a big Snoopy fan! They also had a Dr. Seuss exhibit!

So although Summer is coming to an end Pantai Inn and La Jolla would be a wonderful place to visit this upcoming Fall! And, if you do visit Pantai Inn…don’t forget to say “Hello” to the amazing Manager Mike!
