Summer time fun at LEGOLAND!

IMG_6812        IMG_6800    IMG_6780

Looking for a fun place to take the whole family this Summer? LEGOLAND is the place to go! My husband, 13-year-old son and I recently visited there and had a blast! I love that there is so much creativity there and I really enjoy seeing so many things made out of legos! When my son was younger, legos were a big hit and even though he is now a teenager…legos are still a cool thing! Speaking of cool things…the LEGOLAND water parks are where we spent most of our day! My son and husband enjoyed the Build-A-Raft River and this was our first time at the CHIMA WATER PARK. The Lion Temple Wave Pool was a real big hit!

They also have a great deal right now! You can add the Water Park and 2nd day for $5! The only thing is that you have to book +&days in advance. Sounds like a great deal to me!

We also had a visit thru the Sea Life Aquarium and recommend this one for all ages! It actually is one of my favorite Aquariums to visit! They have really cool Jelly Fish!

We didn’t visit the Legoland Hotel on this trip but you may remember that I once featured the fun time we had there four years ago for my son’s birthday. If you are wanting to celebrate a child’s birthday..this really is a fun place to stay!

We still have a few weeks of Summer left so check out Legoland this Summer! Find out more here!

Don’t forget to check out all the really cool buildings made out of Legos!

Sally Hansen Color Therapy Nail & Cuticle Oil is a Beauty Must-Try!

unnamed

I have to admit that sometimes my nails aren’t kept up as nicely during the Summer but this product makes it easier to keep my fingernails looking good! Sally Hansen Color Therapy Nail & Cuticle Oil is one of my favorite new products! It instantly seems to work and my nails even seem stronger!

Skyy Hadley, owner of As U Wish Salon, has these quick and easy tips to keep your manicure lasting longer during this extended heat wave!

  • Remove your polish and let your nails breathe for a good few days. If nails look discolored, squeeze some lemon into your lotion or rub a lemon wedge directly onto the nail to brighten nails.
  • Apply a shea butter lotion or non-greasy cream to lock in moisture.
  • Begin painting! Apply a cuticle oil (see below) to the base of your nails (or even when they are already polished), focusing around the cuticle area to hydrate and bring moisture into the skin, helping the polish last longer.

Sally Hansen Color Therapy Nail & Cuticle Oil

Finish off your manicure with Color Therapy nail & cuticle oil, formulated with breakthrough argan oil formula. Your ultimate in nail therapy.

  • Moisturizing and nourishing oil
  • Instantly restores radiance to nails and cuticles

“Shark Tank” To Your Kitchen! Scratch & Grain Brand Grows With Unique Line of Baking Mixes are a must-try!

IMG_6452

The year was 2015 and Oregon “mompreneurs” Taya Geiger and Leah Tutin were in the “Shark Tank” to pitch Scratch & Grain Baking Company, their highly innovative line of baking kits featuring individually-packaged and measured gourmet ingredients with such easy-to-use numbered and color coding, even children could feel like pastry chefs. Passing acquaintances before starting their business, the two women were now firmly united in the pursuit of two equally daunting but decidedly thrilling goals: to walk out of the Tank with a Shark in their corner, and to parlay their extraordinary television debut into a brand that would at long last redefine the baking mix category and make homemade baking for the entire family easier, tastier and healthier than ever before.

As fans of “Shark Tank” and Scratch & Grain know well, Taya and Leah not only struck a deal with Barbara Corcoran (entailing a $150K line of credit for 20% equity) and were later featured on “Beyond The Tank,” but have indeed taken their all-natural and organic line of cookie, brownie, cupcake, cornbread, muffin and pumpkin kits to amazing heights in little more than two short years. Today, in fact, what began with two baking-challenged Moms asking the question that’s led to so many entrepreneurial breakthroughs over time – “Couldn’t we do this better?” – is now a beloved, rapidly-growing brand sold online as well as in more 5,000 stores nationwide.

As Taya (who now runs the company on her own as CEO) recalled recently, “Being a lifelong foodie, I had very high standards for everything we ate and served our kids. We thought that each dish or dessert should be amazing and have a true ‘wow!’ factor. If we couldn’t get a reaction along the lines of ‘that’s the BEST chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had,’ then it wasn’t good enough for us. Fortunately, Barbara Corcoran supported our vision, and I’ll be forever grateful to her, the entire ‘Shark Tank’ team and all of the loyal consumers who’ve taken us so far so fast.”

Home Baking Redefined

Like Taya, many Moms and home cooks without the time, patience or skill required to bake from scratch relied for years on baking mixes that were bland at best and unhealthy at worst. Launched before meal kits became a $1.5 billion industry in 2016, Scratch & Grain almost overnight redefined the baking kit category by empowering virtually anyone with an oven to experience the fun and mouth-watering satisfaction of creating their favorite baked goods like seasoned pros. Better yet, since its inception, Scratch & Grain has been helping everyone from kids to parents to grandparents share old-fashioned quality family time together and temporarily escape the impersonal lure of TV sets and cell phones perhaps for the first time in years.

Mixing Up Healthy & Delicious As Never Before!

Featuring easy-to-use numbered, color coded, clearly-labeled and individually packaged wholesome ingredients, Scratch & Grain products enable consumers to not only enjoy the timeless pleasures of baking from scratch but to create their very own recipe variations – an option not available with traditional one-mix-fits-all kits.

Scratch & Grain products include Shark Tank Special PacksCookie Kits (including such irresistible flavors as Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Classic Sugar, Gluten-Free Snicker Doodle and Gluten-Free Chocolate Truffle); Cupcake KitsBrownie Kits;Muffin KitsCornbread KitsCupcake Kits and Pumpkin Bar Kits. Just add such staples as butter and eggs and you’re practically ready to open your very own bake shop!

Moreover, unlike standard baking mix kits that are often repositories of unhealthy, chemical-laden ingredients, Scratch & Grain products are all-natural, completely non-GMO, and Certified Kosher, with most also USDA Certified Organic and several gluten-free as well.

Competitively priced, Scratch and Grain kits cost between $5.50 and $8.50, with combo packs containing three, four, or six kits available for $17.99 to $49.99. In addition to large chain and independent grocery stores across the country such as Target, Safeway/Albertsons, Publix, and Whole Foods (with an additional 2,000 or more expected to carry the brand by the end of this year), Scratch & Grain kits can be purchased on the www.scratchandgrain.comsite or on Amazon.com.

Now here’s the real scoop on what I think! I love these pre-packaged kits! My favorite is the Chocolate Chip but also the Cornbread Kit was a big hit with my family!

I like that the cookies were not too sweet and I love that they are so easy for kids to bake! There is not much measuring and very limited items are needed. The only items that may be needed are ingredients such as milk, butter, eggs….things that you typically have on hand.

I highly recommend trying! Find them at www.scratchandgrain.com!

Music from the Playground: Summer Is a ‘Swing Set’ with Jazzy Ash

unnamed (1)

Multiple award-winning and nationally touring artist Jazzy Ash is back with her fourth album for all ages, Swing Set. Arranged and enhanced for a new generation, these 14 classic songs, rhythms and rhymes represent and celebrate a tradition handed down by African-American children, adults, and musicians from the mid-19th century to the early jazz era. Swing Set will be available from JazzyAsh.com and national music retailers on July 21; pre-orders are available now via iTunes and Amazon.

After years of deep research, Jazzy Ash gathers up these time-tested tunes, polishes them up, and presents them to a new audience. The songs on Swing Set are interspersed with percussive playground rhymes. Each track is at least 90 years old. Produced by Chris Schlarb at his completely analog studio Big Ego, these tracks vary from sassy clapping playground rhymes, to soulful lullabies and classic New Orleans melodies, all presented in style by Jazzy Ash, her band, with children’s voices sprinkled in to invite listener engagement. Swing Set also features Washington DC based artist Uncle Devin on “Hambone,” and tap dancer Sarah Reich (Postmodern Jukebox) on “Ballin’ the Jack.”

Some songs, like “She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain,” “Down by The Riverside” and “When the Saints Go Marching In,” are familiar; and some, like the swingy “Sister Kate” and the percussive “Head and Shoulders Baby,” are not as widely known.

“The history behind these songs and rhymes is so rich ,” explains Jazzy Ash, a longtime preschool educator as well as nationally touring artist. “As I was researching these and sharing my arrangements with my students and teachers in my workshops, I realized how many generations of people have been personally impacted by these traditional tunes. Many of these songs and games were largely carried along by little girls on the playground throughout time, and it’s not often that we celebrate the work of women. I wanted to convey the grit and soul of that grassroots heritage with these recordings.”
