Get into the holiday spirit December 3 through 23, 2016, at the Aquarium during the month-long Aquarium Holidays celebration. Aquarium Holidays features daily underwater shows with Santa Diver, a daily Penguin Walk at 10:00 a.m., a display of gingerbread houses made by Aquarium staff members and one created by a professional bakery, and free daily showings of Sleigh Ride 4D. Snow will fall in the Great Hall, the Aquarium will be decked with festive décor, and the Aquarium’s costumed characters will appear in their holiday outfits daily. Visitors can also enjoy holiday music, shopping, and a special holiday menu offered daily in Café Scuba. On weekends through December 23 the Aquarium will have a snow play area, children’s crafts, photo opportunities with Santa, and Hanukkah storytelling with opportunities to play dreidel. A tree-lighting ceremony will be held in the Aquarium’s Great Hall on December 1 to ring in the season.

 

Aquarium Holidays begins with the Holiday Treats for the Animals festival weekend on December 3 and 4, when Aquarium staff members will give special gift delicacies to penguins, otters, and other marine animals, and animal habitats will be specially decorated. Watch playful sea otters and other animals feast on their favorite treats, and enjoy all the Aquarium holiday festivities.

 

On December 10 and 11 Aquarium visitors can help support the Spark of Love annual toy drive by bringing an unwrapped toy valued at $10 to $15 to the Aquarium. Visitors receive a coupon for $10 off adult admission and $3 off child admission for their donation (up to four). Aquarium members receive a complimentary admission ticket for each donated toy.

 

On December 17 and 18 families can attend Breakfast with Santa in the Aquarium’s Café Scuba. Enjoy a tasty selection of breakfast foods available for purchase and get your holiday card picture snapped with Santa and other aquarium mascots. No RSVP is necessary.

“Feelings”- Matching & Memory Card Game is Great for Teaching Children about Feelings!

Looking for a great way to teach young children about feelings? or maybe you have a child who needs to learn more about social cues such as reading different facial expressions? This is a great teaching tool! The Feelings Matching & Memory Card Game is simple but I like that there are adults on the cards so if you have a child that is not really young..they will not feel this is only for very little kids. I like that there are even a couple of cards that are slightly hard to identify the exact expression/feeling. I think this is especially helpful for those on the Autism spectrum.
