CREATE ULTRA-CURVACEOUS LASHES IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE

WITH NEW 24 HOUR SUPERCURLER MASCARA FROM RIMMEL LONDON

THINK: It’s time to lose your lash curler.

WHAT IT IS: New 24 Hour Supercurler Mascara from Rimmel London is a revolutionary mascara and lash curler in one, giving you dramatic, even curl and volume that lasts all day and all night. No more pulling or tearing at your lashes—with its built-in curling power, the mascara gives lashes a “perm” effect. The patent-pending formula features a revolutionary polymer, a spherical micro-sponge, and a soft gel. When combined, the breakthrough formula curls, volumizes, and pushes lashes up to a phenomenal 90 degrees. Lashes are visibly transformed as soon as you apply, and set to a flawless curl in seconds.

With its curved-eye shape, the special brush fits perfectly into the contours of your eye, giving you flawless application every time. Its cleverly-designed fibers lift and curl lashes from the root to tip, separating each lash for defined, clump-free color. Use the mascara alone, or create an eye-opening look by layering it over your favorite Rimmel mascara.

Let your lashes defy the laws of gravity with breathtaking curve appeal.

Brea Mall To Welcome New Retailers This Spring

Brea Mall is excited to welcome new retailers that are slated to bloom just in time for spring, including Sprint, Supreme Day Spa, Nature Republic, and Jack Monarch, in addition to the relocations of Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma and remodel of Express.

“Here at Brea Mall, our goal is to continually enhance our customers’ shopping experience,” said Nate Weirbach, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Brea Mall. “We hope that by providing a wider selection of high-quality brands, our shoppers’ satisfaction will continue to climb.”

A full-service wireless retailer with more than 120 locations, Sprint recently opened a new location at Brea Mall. With a new 980-square-foot storefront located next to Lenscrafters, the cellular service provider will offer a variety of products and services, including customer care.

Also opening in the spring is Supreme Day Spa, a local tenant featuring a variety of skincare and cosmetic products. The 1,000-square-foot store will be located on lower level, near Macy’s Women’s store.

A second cosmetics company will follow the debut of Supreme Day Spa. Nature Republic, a South Korean-based cosmetics company focused on providing natural cosmetic products, will be located in a 1,300-square-foot space near Nordstrom.

Jack Monarch, a Newport Beach-based jewelry retailer that offers handmade and hand-assembled pieces, will also call Brea Mall home. The custom jeweler will feature rare gem collections and fine crystals in a 1,200-square-foot space, located on the upper level, near Center Court.

As of this month, Express has closed half of its Brea Mall location in order to begin a remodeling process, in which the retailer plans to update the interior and exterior of the store. The specialty men’s and women’s apparel store will remain open during the remodel, which is scheduled to be completed in late spring.

In addition, Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma are relocating within the mall. Pottery Barn will be reopening this spring in their new 5,000-square-foot location on the upper level near Nordstrom, and Williams-Sonoma will be reopening on the upper level near Lenscrafters in a new 3,400-square-foot space.

Sprint, Supreme Day Spa, Nature Republic, and Jack Monarch will be joining the recently opened Johnny Rockets located in the Food Court.

Diana Panton I Believe in Little Things

I Believe in Little Things cover art_72dpi

As winner of the 2015 JUNO Award for Best Vocal Jazz Recording for her album, RED, along with a multitude of other accolades, Diana Panton is accustomed to the praise that comes with being recognized as one of Canada’s leading jazz vocalists.  With her first album for children and families, I Believe in Little Things,Diana Panton is ready to bring her special brand of sweet and sincere swinging elegance straight to the hearts of the young and old alike.

I Believe in Little Things is at once a carefully curated anthology of under-appreciated gems and a collection of classic children’s masterpieces from DIsney, Sesame Street, Willy Wonka, and more.

While the string that perfectly ties the album together is the authentic jazz sound and style of Diana Panton’s exquisite voice, the players all have stellar credentials of their own, starting with Order of Canada recipient Don Thompson’s splendid command of the piano, his tasteful mastery of the vibraphone, and his big, beautiful acoustic bass lines, not to mention the outstanding contribution of his musical arrangements.

In addition, the listener is treated to delightful cello artistry from internationally recognized Coenraad Bloemendal and superb playing from award-winning jazz guitarist Reg Schwager. This altogether extraordinary album should be part of every contemporary child’s experience.  Its polished delivery of wisely chosen lyrics and opulent creativity offer a respite of calm in an often-turbulent world.  The artistry of the performers is truly world class.

I Believe in Little Things establishes its tone with the beautiful, warm sound of “In a World of My Own” from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, as sung by Diana Panton in both English and French.  Coenraad Bloemendal’s lovely cello solo introduces the song “Alice in Wonderland,” also sung in English and French by Diana Panton, with wonderfully inventive jazz improvisation by pianist Don Thompson, who also contributes some solid bass playing to support guitarist Reg Schwager and cellist Coenraad Bloemendal.  Thompson and Schwager were members of The George Shearing Quartet, and Thompson’s arrangement of “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka is straight out of the George Shearing playbook.

Since her debut release in 2005, Diana Panton’s career has predictably gathered incredible momentum. With seven critically acclaimed albums, Diana’s impressive catalog has garnered numerous honors, including the JUNO win for RED, two Silver Disc Awards in Japan, three prior JUNO nominations, eight Hamilton Music Awards, and a host of National Jazz Awards and Canadian and US Indie nominations.  She was a first place jury selection to perform at theJazz à Juan Révélations in France, where she was voted Premiere Dauphine by the Juan public.  Her albums have had Top 10 jazz chart success in Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan.  Recently she was named one of Canada’s Top 5 Jazz Vocalists by CBC radio host Tim Tamashiro.

Hullabaloo

I_Chew_cover_art_72

With a twelve-year track record of glowing critical acclaim, having picked up fifteen national awards along the way, the beloved “free-range, organic” duo Hullabaloo brings a fresh, spontaneous approach to their 12th album for kids and families, I Chew, set for release on February 26.

February 1, 2015 went down in history as the day Steve Denyes vowed to himself and his musical partner, Brendan Kremer, that he would write, record, and post a song a day for 21 days.  On I Chew, kids and families will hear the best tunes harvested from that 21-day period, plus a few more stellar Hullabaloo originals.  The result is a collection of “pocket songs” with a solid country feel, each filled with good spirits and based on one succinct idea.

Explains Steve Denyes, “In many ways this album is about not over-thinking the creative process.  It’s about capturing creative moments and trusting them.”

I Chew’s brief, aphoristic gems, replete with sidesplitting humor and underlying messages that focus on love, life, and community, reflect only the very best in all of us.  With the rapidity of a grand fireworks finale, these songs keep the listener slightly off balance with a surprise around every corner.

Hullabaloo has made a career of creating “a foot-stomping, wing-flapping celebration of song that both honors and entertains kids and families.”  Noteworthy on I Chew is the song “I Wear Pink,” which is all about allowing children the freedom to be themselves.  “I Wear Pink” is based on Steve Denyes’ real-life experience as a boy who mostly learned about life playing with his older sisters and other kids in his neighborhood who happened to be girls.  Predictably, he wound up wearing a lot of pink and playing with dolls, that is, when he wasn’t surfing, skateboarding, and playing soccer and basketball with one of his best friends, Eileen, the neighborhood tomboy.  Guest artists heard on “I Wear Pink” include kindie music luminaries Peter Alsop, Jim Cosgrove, Papa Crow, Laura Doherty, Dean Jones, The Singing Lizard, Red Yarn, Randy Kaplan, Pointed Man Band, and Mista Cookie Jar.

Steve Denyes and Brendan Kremer met in kindergarten and have been friends ever since.  Together they started playing music in the 5th grade band, where they vigorously exhibited their burgeoning talents on “Old MacDonald” and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”  Little did they suspect that, decades later, these songs would still be among their biggest hits!

Steve grew up to be an elementary school music teacher, folksinger, and songwriter, while Brendan became a rock ‘n’ roll drummer.  The maiden voyage of Hullabaloo took place when Steve and Brendan teamed up to play a few songs at Brendan’s twin daughters’ first birthday party.  Fast forward a dozen years to find that Hullabaloo has performed more than 3,000 shows throughout the country at venues ranging from birthday parties to fancy concert stages like the Austin City Limits Festival, Philadelphia’s World Café Live, and LEGOLAND.  Along the way they’ve released eleven award-winning albums (at last count, with more than 30,000 sold) and developed a loyal following nationwide.

Young children will love this fun Country-Pop music! It is quite refreshing!

I Chew will be available at hullabalooband.com, CDbaby.com, and iTunes.

Do You Know What A Hippopotamus Feels Like?

LAZoo-Hippos1

What’s it like to be up-close to a hippo?  Have you ever wondered how their skin feels?  Or what they eat for lunch?  Why they spend so much time in the water?  How fast they run?  Are they endangered?  Find out at the Los Angeles Zoo’s new HIPPO ENCOUNTER, an extraordinary, hands-on opportunity every weekend and holiday, 12 noon, at the L.A. Zoo and Botanical Gardens.  Small groups of up to 15 people, including children ages four and up accompanied by an adult, go behind the scenes for approximately 20 minutes to stand VERY close to the Zoo’s near-legendary, 15-month old baby, Rosie, and her mom, Mara, while learning all about them.  L.A. Zoo keepers introduce guests to both hippos, the third-largest land mammal, and share specifics about their daily routines, care, training and lives.  Participants watch up close as staff feeds lunch to the hippos, followed by a chance to reach out and feel their cool, smooth skin, then concluding with an unforgettable photo op likely to generate multiple #adorbs type hashtags.  Due to the great popularity of this unique experience, purchase of Hippo Encounter tickets ($15 per person in addition to regular Zoo admission) is suggested in advance via the L.A. Zoo’s website.

The landmark Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, drawing 1.75 million visitors each year, is home to a diverse collection of 1,100 animals representing 250 different species, many of which are rare or endangered.  Its lush grounds on 113 acres feature the LAIR (Living Amphibians, Invertebrates, and Reptiles); Elephants of Asia; Campo Gorilla Reserve; Rainforest of the Americas, an extraordinary collection of endangered and exotic mammals, reptiles, fish and amphibians living in spaces that exemplify their natural habitat in the rainforest biosphere; Tom Mankiewicz Conservation Carousel; Chimpanzees of Mahale Mountains, home to one of the largest troops of chimpanzees in the United States; Red Ape Rain Forest, where visitors can walk among orangutans; the Winnick Family Children’s Zoo; one of the largest flocks of flamingos in any zoo in the world; a botanical collection comprising over 800 different plant species with approximately 7,000 individual plants; and much more.  Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), whose members meet rigorous professional standards for animal welfare, the Zoo has achieved renown as an international leader in the preservation of endangered species and a conservation center for the care and study of wildlife.  The private, non-profit Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA), which has supported the Zoo in partnership with the City of Los Angeles for more than five decades and provides funding for and operates seven essential Zoo departments, has 60,000 member households representing more than 240,000 adults and children.  As evidence of the Zoo’s popularity, GLAZA attracts one of the largest membership bases of any cultural organization in Los Angeles.  The Zoo’s location in Griffith Park at the junction of the Ventura (134) and Golden State (5) freeways ideally positions it as a convenient destination enjoyed by locals and vacationers of all ages who can visit every day of the year except Christmas Day.  5333 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles, CA  90027. (323) 644-4200.  www.lazoo.org

Admission to the Los Angeles Zoo is $20 for general admission (ages 13 to 61); $17 for seniors (ages 62+), and $15 for children (ages 2 to 12).  No ticket is required for children under 2.  Admission for Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association members is free.  Hippo Encounter tickets are $15 per person in addition to regular Zoo admission and available to adults and children ages four and up accompanied by an adult.  Tickets for the Hippo Encounter are available online at http://www.lazoo.org/visit/showsandactivities/ and in person at Admissions ticket windows; Greater Los Angeles Zoo members may purchase tickets at Admissions Window #11.

The Los Angeles Zoo is located in Griffith Park at the junction of the Ventura (134) and Golden State (5) freeways.  5333 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles, CA  90027.  Free parking is available.  For tickets and additional information, contact (323) 644-6001 or visit lazoo.org
