Musical Theatre West Announces Broadway Performer and Viral Vocal Sensation Brian Justin Crum as Joseph in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”

Get ready to “Go Go Go Joseph!” as Southern California’s premier theatre company, Musical Theatre West (MTW), brings the colorful, high-energy sensation Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach from July 10 through July 26, 2026. Filled with dazzling musical numbers, heartwarming storytelling, and an unforgettable score spanning pop, rock, and jazz, the beloved production celebrates hope, resilience, and the power of dreams. Leading the production as Joseph is acclaimed singer-songwriter, Broadway performer, and viral vocal sensation Brian Justin Crum. Known for his powerhouse vocals and emotional storytelling, Crum first captured international attention on NBC-TV’s America’s Got Talent with his unforgettable rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep,” which has amassed more than 100 million views online. A Broadway veteran since the age of 17, Crum has appeared in productions including Wicked, Next to Normal, and We Will Rock You.

“I played Joseph when I was 17 years old and I remember feeling like it was the role that really helped me find my voice,” shared Crum. “It solidified my love of musical theatre and led me to a career on Broadway! I’m thrilled to be stepping back into this role and such a prestigious theatre!”

MTW’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will put a fresh contemporary spin on the globally beloved musical, weaving in modern pop culture influences, updated creative touches, and references designed to resonate with today’s audiences while preserving the timeless heart and energy of the show.

With a runtime of 2 hours and 10 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is rated G.
