Presented by NXT Art Foundation and Arup, and produced by Carmen Zella—Co-founder, NXT Art Foundation + Owner & Creative Director, NOW Art—Attune 1.0 is a first-of-its-kind public art platform designed to connect Angelenos through coordinated sound- and light-based works presented simultaneously across multiple locations. This Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026, at sunset, Attune unfolds across Los Angeles County, activating multiple sites in a free, family-friendly public art experience.

“Attune is the future of public art, a multidisciplinary cultural platform amplifying artists across disciplines and connecting us in a collective experience unlike anything before,” sharesCarmen Zella. “I envision Attune expanding into a series that forever positions Los Angeles County as a trailblazer, a beacon of cultural inspiration when unifying, uplifting, and positive experiences are most needed. The event will feature interdisciplinary artists Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Beatie Wolfe, Media Pollution, Sarah Rara, claire rousay, L.Frank, Qur’an Shaheed, Carmina Escobar, and Odeya Nini, each presenting unique sound-based works that invite audiences to slow down, listen deeply, engage, and connect. In addition, light artists Emery C. Martin and Kerstin Larissa Hovland are creating light-based sculptural installations at each site.
Miguel Atwood-Ferguson will create a string orchestra composition and sound healing color percussion that will be accompanied by live soloists at each location. Audience members will be encouraged to sing along, bringing individual voices together in harmony while recognizing their distinct contributions.
Beatie Wolfe’s ‘imPRINTING’ (the LA chapter): A Sonic Self-Portrait transports listeners across the sites inside the artist’s brain, allowing them to tune into and discover its many channels and sonic imprints, including memories, music, conversations, hopes, fears, and dreams.
Sarah Rara will conduct a choir performance inspired by the beauty and joy of the jacaranda season. In exploring the history of these electric violet blooms and how they came to Los Angeles, Rara considers how their iconic color can be imagined as a sound.
claire rousay will adapt ll, a cyclical piano performance that will be manipulated via granular synthesis in Max MSP to craft a slow, ever-changing moment of introspection through a serene loop.
L. Frank will position storytelling as a way to highlight the intersection of Tongva/Ajachmem culture and expression to anchor people to the Indigenous history of each Attune location.
Qur’an Shaheed will present a live, interactive musical performance that incorporates elements of breath and space to help guide audiences into a meditative state inside an evolving soundscape of voice, piano, harp, and woodwinds.
Carmina Escobar will guide a bilingual city-wide breath meditation to form a collective lung across multiple sites where breath becomes our shared offering: each inhale gathers us, each exhale returns us to the city.
Odeya Nini will sing a hymn-like song set to field recordings of sounds taken from Los Angeles’s natural environment, inviting the audience to lend their voices to a shared soundscape that emphasizes connection to the earth and to one another.
Emery C. Martin + Kerstin Larisssa Hovland have designed the centerpiece light sculpture that will be positioned at each event site and the color hue sequences they display, which accompany each artist’s acoustic composition.
Media Pollution will create a television tower that displays rotating live feeds from Attune sites across the County, enabling visitors to connect across distances in real time. This artwork will be placed beside the information table at the event.
“Everyone has a valid and needed voice in this world, regardless of whether one is a trained musician or not, and this piece will make everyone sound sublime and in harmony. No one can silence us…. Everyone’s voice in society is relevant and has its own divine intrinsic beauty and worth,” shares Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, whose work for Attune underscores the project’s vision of inclusivity and resonance.
At select locations, Attune will coincide with significant civic and community moments that extend the project’s presence into public life. In Exposition Park, Attune 1.0 at Jesse Brewer Jr. Park will serve as the site’s inaugural public event following a yearlong renovation, with the office of Exposition Park Management hosting a ribbon cutting immediately prior to the activation, marking a moment of public investment and cultural reopening.In Culver City, the Wende Museum’s Glorya Kaufman Community Center will host My Sonic Valentine: Love Wrapped in Sound, a free, immersive sound and wellness experience presented by Sonic Unity from 4:00–7:00 pm, as an acoustic and resonant healing opportunity alongside Attune’s activation. In Long Beach, Attune aligns with the Downtown Long Beach Art + Design Walk, a quarterly event series supported by the Downtown Long Beach Alliance, which brings together artists, designers, architects, makers, and live music to highlight the role of art and design in shaping the city’s creative economy and downtown revitalization. The event, which runs from 2 to 7 PM, includes a Black History Month celebration, Unity, Legacy & Love: A Black Future Celebration, presented by Dreamz into Goals (DIG Life) and Future Fest a one-day block takeover produced by Space Beach Law Lab that brings the wonder of space back to the street. Attendees will be led towards Attune by installation artist Olga Lah’s and Nick Dynice’s work, commissioned by DTLB Design District and Arts Council for Long Beach.

In a moment when civic life is strained by division, isolation, and uncertainty, Attune offers a multi-disciplinary intervention that aims to activate, harmonize, and synchronize across Los Angeles’s diverse neighborhoods. By creating a shared county-wide moment, this project invites Angelenos to shift the focus of love to local communities on Valentine’s Day, reduce stress, and experience unity through art.
