I received a variety of samples and what I really love is how fresh this bread is! It’s lowfat but it also tastes great! One of my favorite is the 4 BFree Brown Seeded Rolls! You can check out the website for some really great recipes too!  I tried the Avocado Butter on a bagel..yum! I will be trying the other recipes soon! I was really quite surprised at the taste and highly recommend!

Although it is back-to-school time, it it still Summer! That means it is a great time for hamburgers!  This  flax burger recipe by Carrington Farms  is sure to be a hit! I tried it this past Labor Day and I really liked it! 

After eating standard burgers/cheeseburgers all season, this recipe puts a healthy spin on the traditional BBQ favorite, packs a ton of flavor and is rich in omega-3s, omega-6s, fiber, and lignans – serving plenty of nutrients with every bite.

Here’s the recipe:

Prep time: ~15 minutes
Ingredients:

• 1 pound thawed ground beef, lean ground turkey or bison, veal or your favorite meat
• 2 Tbs finely chopped onion
• 1 clove garlic minced
• 2 Tbs Carrington Farms Organic Milled flaxseed
• 2 Tbs water
• 3/4 cup soft bread crumbs (1 slice of bread)
• 1 beaten egg
• 1 Tbs mustard
• 1/4 tsp sea salt
• 1/4 tsp pepper
• 4-6 hamburger buns

Directions

• Mix together meat, onion, garlic, flax and bread crumbs
• Lightly beat water and egg together and add to mixture. Add mustard, salt and pepper
• Cook on a grill or stove top until no pink remains (~12 mins)
• Optional cheeseburgers: top with slice of your choice of cheese at end of cooking and grill or broil for about 1 min

Makes 4 -3/4 inch thick patties or 6 -1/2 inch thick patties.

They really are quite tasty and I love that they are a healthier option!
