Rethink, Remember, Renew – Nothing Captures The Beauty Of Life Like Images Of Nature

Well Seasoned Cover 9x9 FINAL 081914

When Rebecca Webb Wilson’s parents gave their young daughter a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye years ago, they could not have known where it would lead her. While taking photographs of hawks along the expressway in her hometown of Memphis opened the gates to her passion for wildlife photography, her first job as a PanAm flight attendant fueled her wanderlust.

This avid traveler and accomplished nature photographer’s passions gracefully combine in Well Seasoned: Savoring Life’s Lessons (Inspire on Purpose), her new book that chronicles the seasons of life, illuminated by her unconventional and uplifting philosophy, in a collage of breathtaking photographs and inspirational essays. By pairing carefully crafted words with more than one hundred vibrant, full-color images, Wilson savors the clarity that time and experience make possible for all who journey.

Sprinkled with thoughtful quotations and fragments of poetry, her unique book shares the author’s abundant gratitude for the sudden surprises and unexpected joys revealed in nature’s seasons, and her own passing seasons – offering renewed hope to anyone hesitant about the aging process.

During her many travels, the author climbed and photographed Mount Kilimanjaro, the Swiss Alps part of the Haute Route, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, as well as capturing on film so many other wondrous places. This exquisite collection pays tribute to Rebecca’s deep sense of adventure and desire to capture the moment for all time. For readers, it offers a temporary respite from everyday life – to be immersed in beauty and tranquility and to reflect on their own tender memories. Rebecca says it so well: Rethink. Remember. Renew.

I received a copy of this book and just love the beautiful photos! I couldn’t even pick my favorite season (which is Summer!) because each season had such beautiful words and photos. I also love the insightful questions. This would make a beautiful gift this Holiday season!

About the author:

After her time with PanAm, followed by a brief stint as a realtor, Rebecca attended law school at the University of Memphis and served several years as an Assistant United States Attorney. She later became involved with the Memphis Zoological Society in its efforts to remodel and revitalize its facility. She founded a youth leadership program in Memphis called Bridge Builders, which to date has had 21,000 participants from surrounding public, private, and parochial schools. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, she serves as a member of its Board of Trust, and also serves on the board of directors of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation.

Named one of Memphis Woman Magazine’s ’50 Women Who Make a Difference,’ she also received the Legends Award from the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis in 2010. She lives in Memphis with her husband and they share their time between two sons, two daughters, and nine grandchildren.

New Additions To Brea Mall In Time For The Holidays

unnamed

Simon’s Brea Mall is preparing to welcome celebrity hotspot boutique Kitson, specialty drink provider Lollicup Coffee & Tea and footwear retailer Shoe Palace to the center this holiday season.

Originating from a shop on Robertson Blvd., Kitson has grown into a hotspot for both celebrities and fashion enthusiasts, offering a one-stop-shop for trendy men, women and children’s fashion, apothecary and gifts. Known for “entertainment shopping,” Kitson offers a mix of retail and pop culture.

Kitson will be located on the lower level of Brea Mall, between Aldo and Charlotte Russe in a 3,297 square-foot space this month. The Brea location will be the 24th Kitson store (and first in Orange County) run by the privately held company.

Also this month, Shoe Palace will make its debut at Brea Mall in a 3,821-square-foot space on the lower level, near the Macy’s Men, Children and Home store. The retailer will showcase nationally branded athletic and casual footwear and apparel, while offering customers the ultimate shopping experience.

In addition, Lollicup Fresh Tea will be coming to Brea Mall’s Food Court this holiday season, and will be located between Taco Bell and Charley’s Grilled Subs in a 520 square-foot space.

Founded in 2000 by Alan Yu and Marvin Cheng, Lollicup Coffee & Tea is the premier provider of delicious concoctions of milk and tea based beverages with tasty, chewy add-ons, complimented by addicting Asian snacks. Made popular by their signature boba milk tea and popcorn chicken, Lollicup is committed to continuously provide quality products that mix flavor and fun.

“We’re so excited to be able to offer new fun and trendy fashion and dining options as we head into the holiday season,” said Anna Cotter, director of marketing and business development at Brea Mall.

The new stores are the latest in the many changes that have taken place at Brea Mall as a result of its large-scale interior and exterior renovation, which included new mall entrances, the addition of family-style restrooms, a faster and larger elevator, a brand new children’s Play Area on the lower level, an updated food court and new flooring, landscaping, handrails, signage and lighting throughout. The center now has updated textures, colors and amenities, creating a more contemporary and inviting shopping environment.

6 Times You Should (Gasp) Leave Your Phone at Home

HNCK0082-1300x866

OK, if we’re gonna be honest, detaching from our phones is unrealistic. But sometimes we just have no business having these devices around. You will prevent some poor decision-making and help mitigate disaster if you leave your phone home (or at least protect it) in the following scenarios:

GNO

Girls night! Champagne. Little black dress. Hot blow out. You’re going out with the girls, and you’re definitely not going to text him—the charming, cute, smart guy from Tinder who hasn’t responded to yesterday’s text. In fact, you’ve changed his contact name to “DON’T TEXT.” You’re confident you won’t text, nor will you agonize over his nonexistent text reply. At some point during the night, though, you lose all self-control. Before your eyes is one humiliating alcohol-induced blue bubble after another (after another, and another)… sent to “DON’T TEXT.”

The next morning: Still. No. Response. Delete. Contact.

Zoo

The zoo is fun for a second date or family outing. But the zoo makes people to do stupid things, like take animal pictures. Not only does the zoo make you want to take (lame) pictures of animals, but you also feel the urge to post those (lame) animal pictures to Facebook. Online pictures of an elephant getting hosed down or a lion sleeping in a faux cave is as interesting as photos of your surprise selfie expression or latte art (also known as social media photo offenses numbers one and two). Live in the moment and enjoy the zoo without your phone. Your Facebook friends and Instagram followers appreciate it.

Sunday Church

Unless you’re recording your nephew during his first Holy Communion, the smartphone doesn’t belong in a place of worship. WikiHow recommends texting a buddy as a way to pass time in church. Don’t take WikiHow’s advice. Leave your phone in the car to resist the temptation to use it. If the separation anxiety of parting with your phone is too much to bear, check out Catholic Apptitude’s etiquette guide for using your cell phone in church (tips apply to all denominations).

Bathroom

It seems like no place is off limits for phones these days (besides church, of course). Our phones go where we go, including the bathroom. The bathroom is a danger zone. One tiny slipup while texting or scrolling, and your phone could become a casualty of water damage. As you stare at your phone in the toilet, regret ensues. “Why did I drop my phone?” “Why did I have to text in the bathroom?” “Why didn’t I stay in better touch with friends?” “Why didn’t I stand up to bullies in school?” “Why didn’t I live life to its fullest?”

Even Forbes contributor Eric Jackson agrees that one of the 25 biggest regrets in life is not turning off the phone more or leaving it at home. But if you don’t want to take Jackson’s words of wisdom, you can at least safeguard your phone with liquid damage protection.

Out to Dinner

Society’s non-parents can be quick to scorn crying babies and misbehaving kids in public spaces, certain that their future offspring will be angels. And any parent understands what it feels like to be under the judgmental glare of non-parents, especially when you’re quick to pacify your little ones with a smartphone or tablet after a full-blown earthquake-level temper tantrum. If you’re brave enough to take your rambunctious brood out to dinner at a nice eatery (read: not McDonalds) and don’t want to be on the receiving end of others’ judgment, leave the digital devices behind.

Break Up

Someone gets dumped. And if the dumpee didn’t want to break up, expect emotions to erupt. If you’re breaking up with your sigoth, make sure your phone’s not easily accessible. Your phone may become the innocent bystander that ends up taking the most heat during the demise of this relationship. Unless you have insurance to cover a cracked screen, keep your phone away. Not only could it be used as an emotional outlet, it could potentially be used as a weapon (not really, that would be cray) (but really, we’ve seen it happen).

So there are our picks for the six situations where you’re better off without your phone. As if you’ll listen.

Kobert Waterproof Case

Do you like to take your camera to the beach but are worried about the ocean and sand? The Kobert Waterproof Case may be the answer!   I really like this case! What is impressive is that it really works as well as it claims. I like to take my phone to the beach but it’s usually not an easy task to do with the water and the sand. I like this case because you can even use the touch screen while the phone is in the case. This wasn’t something that I could do with a previous (different brand) case that I had bought during the summer. I am amazed that I can use the phone camera while it is in the case. It has an impressive secure snap and lock/unlock mechanism and a neck strap. The case seems quite sturdy and I know I already said this..but I really love that I can take photos at the beach without removing the phone from the case! I also love the BONUS stylus pen that was included to use with the touch-screen. This is a Must-have for the beach, pool and water parks!

Dr Song Professional Teeth Whitening Kit 44% Carbamide Peroxide

803ba7c370891fb508d45f0fd5ad46604d002c48

I was amazed at 1.) How strong this product is and 2.) How well it works! I only had to use a little and it works well. I do tend to have slightly sensitive gums so I was careful using it around my gums. I would suggest to others to do the same if they have sensitive gums. Just after 5 days, I have noticed a difference. I like that it is so simple to use and that it seems to work quite a bit better than the ones I have bought at the store in the past. I generally have sensitive gums (as I mentioned above) so I was a bit leery at first. But, I have not had any problems and have been using this product 2 times a day. I also have to point out that I am quite impressed with the customer service and found the instructions that they emailed me very helpful.

Includes:
• 8 large syringes of whitening gel – good for 50 applications
• 1 large remineralization gel syringe
• gel applicator brush – for easy application of whitening gel
• LED Blue Light Accelerator – for acceleration of whitening process
• moldable teeth trays
