Have you ever wondered why kids are so enthralled with dinosaurs? R O A R ! ! ! DINO DAN DVD 4-Pack Giveaway!

·      He also believe that dinosaurs are also role models for kids because dinosaurs are big and nobody tells them what to do – the exact opposite of a kid, who is small and is always being told how to behave.


·      Kids also like the size and scope of dinosaur skeletons, definitely a cool factor!


·      And they also like the possibility that, like Matt Larson, a paleontologist for the Black Hills Institute of Geologic Research, they too might be able to someday discover dinosaur fossils – as he did just this summer in the plains of northeast Wyoming!

Dino Dan is an ordinary 10-year old boy with an extraordinary obsession: he eats, sleeps and breathes dinosaurs. A typical day for Dan isn’t complete unless he’s racing a T-Rex on his school track, finding a Pterodactylus in his attic or getting a baby Brachiosaurus back to its mom. But kids don’t need to imagine dinosaurs because in Dino Dan, dinosaurs lurk around every corner, they’re behind every mystery, they fuel every adventure, and they help answer questions, too!


Dino Dan also specializes in getting his contrasting crew of classmates and teachers engaged in his larger-than-life adventures. Not only are Dino Dan‘s adventures incredibly fun, they’re also incredibly educational, as each episode centers around a common kid issue like having to play with your little brother, going to the dentist, or trying to win at hide ‘n’ seek. These, naturally, lead Dan to wonder how the dinosaurs would act in a similar situation.


As Dino Dan comes up with a dino question or experiment to test his theories, he’s also teaching kids about science. If his first theory proves false, Dan comes up with a partial answer or discovers new information to help him resolve the question. Then Dan discovers a new way of tackling the experiment and the problem is resolved.  And since the dinos in Dino Dan don’t speak, high-five, or use deductive reasoning, Dan and his pals work with the dinos’ instincts as part of their scientific method for proving theories.

My son and I received the DVD set to review and loved the first one! We haven’t had a chance to watch them all yet!  It’s educational and fun! It’s great that Dino Dan is a 10-year old boy who kids can relate to.

Get-The-Look from Malan Breton with Babyliss Pro

Malan Breton’s collection represented a fusion of the classic, “Saville Row” silhouettes of 1960s British pop superstars and the decadent romantic fashions featured in Wong Kar Wai’s critically acclaimed film, “In the Mood for Love.”

Lead hairstylist, Jose Perales, Creative Director of Babyliss Pro, utilized the world’s first fully automatic professional curl machine, the Babyliss Pro MiraCurl, to create a structured yet feminine hairstyle to complement Breton’s designs. Please find steps to create the look below:

·         Begin by dividing hair into three sections – left, right and middle.

·         Curl large sections of the hair – 1 ¼ inch or greater – away from the face, using a large barrel curling iron.  Pin in place to set.

·         Next, begin curling small 1 inch sections of hair using the Babyliss Pro MiraCurl. Starting on the right side, curl hair using the tool’s setting fixed on left rotation. Repeat on the left side, with the tool’s setting fixed on right rotation. This will ensure that curls angle towards the face. Pin each curl to set, and then blow dry the hair using a diffuser, on a cool setting.

·         Leaving the middle section of hair pinned, brush out the right and left side curls using a bristled brush. Start at the root and work down to the ends. Perales recommends using a hairspray, such as Babyliss Pro MiraCurl Hair Spray, while brushing to eliminate frizz.

·         Move on to the middle section, releasing it from the pins. Beginning in the back, working toward the front, tease each curl with a bristle brush at the root to create the illusion of thicker hair with more volume.

·         Lastly, brush the middle section back and secure with Babyliss Pro MiraCurl Hair Spray.

“The Watsons Go To Birmingham” A Film With a Message KIDS FIRST! Coming Attractions,


In the summer of 1963, Daniel and Wilona Watson and their three kids, 15-year-old Byron, 11-year-old Kenny and 8-year-old Joetta, leave their home in Flint, Michigan for a family road trip to Birmingham, Alabama. Daniel and Wilona are fed up with Byron’s juvenile delinquent antics, and have decided what he needs is a dose of his Grandma Sands’ no-nonsense approach. They head south, with plenty of laughs en route. When they make it to Birmingham, they soon discover that life is very different there than in Flint. During that historic summer, the Watsons find themselves caught up in events that will change their lives – and the nation – forever. “The Watsons Go to Birmingham” is an original movie presented by Walmart and P&G for Walden Family Theater premiering September 20 on Hallmark Channel. KIDS FIRST! Film Critic Keefer B loves the acting in this film and the moral: “You can’t live your life in fear and live a good life.” His full review is below.

This powerful, historical fiction takes place in 1963. The plot follows our protagonist Kenny (Bryce Clyde Jenkins) and his African American family from their house in Flint, Michigan to their family home in Birmingham, Alabama. While in Alabama, Kenny and his siblings are introduced to segregation and all its inhumanity.  In Michigan they lived free from sequestration except for what they experienced on TV. This film is seeded with real life situations and old black and white clips that are sewn together quite skillfully.


What I love about the film is the outstanding acting. The kids couldn’t be better. The characters go through so much they’re able to express a lot of emotion and does it show! I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there have been a lot of films about segregation this year; 42, Lee Daniels The Butler and more to come. What makes this film stand out is that the story is from 10-year-old Kenny’s perspective. When we view the world through a black adult’s eyes, we know they’ve probably experienced segregation. From a child’s level, we see they can’t comprehend why they’re treated poorly because of their skin color. That’s what makes it more powerful.

My favorite character is Kenny. I relate to him because he’s sort of a nerd, kindhearted and in this film, confused. I like to see how he deals with the different situations he’s placed in. Jenkins does a tremendous job portraying this character.


My favorite scene is when Kenny almost drowns. Kenny is swimming in the lake and gets sucked down into a whirlpool. Luckily, his brother Byron (Harrison Knight) saves him. This scene is intense and I got a little teary-eyed when Byron embraces Kenny and won’t let go.


The moral is, “You can’t live your life in fear and live a good life.” After the drowning incident Kenny thinks the whirlpool (Whir Poo) is out to get him so he magnifies emotional situations to the point of over-whelming dread.


I give this 5 out of 5 stars and recommend this for 9-year-olds and up. I think this film is very educational. It’s a perfect film to show younger audiences and it has that family element to it that makes it entertaining.
