Thor, Jan. 10th Pet of the Week

Awwwwwwww!

Thor desperately needs a loving, forever home. He came to our shelter at Long Beach Animal Care Services in mid-December when his owners were reported for possible abuse. Thor was observed to have discomfort and pain in his hindquarters and tail, and his owners had been shouting at him to stop whining. They told animal control officers that they didn’t seek veterinary help for Thor because they couldn’t afford it, and so they surrendered the senior dog to the shelter. Volunteers and staff are making up for lost time with Thor, but he so needs a permanent or at least a foster situation for his golden years. Can you help, or do you know someone who can? Long Beach Animal Care Services is over capacity with dogs, so speed the process to adopt or foster Thor or any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Our shelter hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 7700 E. Spring St. at the entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors. Ask for ID#A734281.
