Silverado, June 27 Pet of the Week

AWWWWW!

Long Beach Animal Care Services (LBACS) has geared up its Foster the 4th program for 2025. The program allows the public to foster animals, big dogs in particular, to make room for all the pets who run in terror from fireworks blasts and wind up in the shelter, if they’re lucky enough not to get killed by a vehicle. LBACS volunteers have recommended dogs who’d make great foster pets, and Silverado is a big favorite among the big dogs! They describe him as awesome, sweet, mellow and fun — a guy who loves to exercise and who’ll motivate you to do the same! He’s good on leash, rides well in the car and is good at events with lots of people and other dogs. Please note: Experience with huskies or a solid understanding of what they require is highly encouraged. Join Foster the 4th by emailing PetFoster@longbeach.gov. If you just plain want to adopt, great — email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to schedule an appointment. Speed the process to adopt Silverado or any of our other pets by emailing or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Best yet, meet all the pets Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 7700 E. Spring St. at the entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors). Ask for ID#A720420.
