Sanderson, you wear it well! Our boy wears doggie clothing as if it were a second skin. And he’s mostly skin! Sanderson, 3 years old, is unique in that he’s covered with a thin, brown fuzz. This confounded the staff and volunteers when he was picked up after being abandoned with three other dogs in a parking lot. After three months of treatment and observation, everyone concluded that Sanderson was a mix of mastiff and Xoloitzcuintle, a hairless dog from Mexico whose breed dates back to the Aztecs. Despite the noble lineage, Sanderson is constantly silly, waggy and happy. He plays joyfully in the play yard with his favorite toy, a stuffed lamb. “In ancient Mexico, the Xolo was considered sacred, and we feel all dogs deserve to be valued, respected and loved,” reads Sanderson’s bio on the shelter’s adoption page. Sanderson’s been at the shelter since November last year, and he deserves his own place where he can be worshipped.
