Malachite, Sept. 11 Pet of the Week

AWWWWWWW!

Meet Malachite. This handsome one-year-old came to the shelter with a group of young dogs, all of whom have since found their homes. So why is Malachite still waiting? If you ask his friends at the shelter, they’ll tell you the truth: the shelter just isn’t where he shines. Malachite is a sensitive, shy soul, and when he feels overwhelmed in his kennel, he doesn’t always know what to do with those big feelings. Sometimes, they come out as barking, pacing or jumping in his kennel. People walk by, see those few seconds of him struggling, and keep going. And they miss out on the nice dog underneath the stress. The dog who just needs a little time to feel safe. The dog who has done well with other dogs. The dog who likes to play with toys. The dog who, once he decides you’re one of his people, is your friend for life. Malachite doesn’t need someone to rush him. He needs someone willing to give him time to build his confidence and show them who he really is. Want to make a difference in a shelter dog’s life? Malachite is waiting for someone willing to see past the kennel and give the good dog underneath a chance toshine. Want to make a difference in a dog’s life? Malachite’s waiting to meet you.
