Looking for a way to make Fitness more fun? Want to get the kids off the couch and off their devices? The latter one would have me thinking, raising my hand and yelling “Me!” Have you heard of iBitz? A couple of weeks ago, I discovered iBitz on the internet and was excited to have the opportunity to receive not only an adult one but also a child one to review! iBitz is a new generation of wireless, wearable technology that motivates children and families with rewards for real-life physical activity. Sounds great, right? This new gaming peripheral captures real life physical activity and converts it into digital coins, game tokens, and rewards that can be used to unlock content and access levels inside games.  Here is some more info: It is the ONLY fitness tracker on the market made just for kids! It motivates kids to be active everyday! Two iBitz devices are available: iBitz PowerKey for children and iBitz Unity for adults, which can be worn on the hip or shoe. Both are colorful, lightweight devices that employ advanced accelerometer technology to monitor family physical activity. Tracks minute-by-minute data including (MVPA) which is Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity, so parents can tell if kids are getting their recommended number of 60 minutes of vigorous play per day. iBitz Powerkey and Unity each have their own corresponding free app available for download in the Apple App Store. iBitz devices wirelessly transmit details of the user’s physical activity to the apps on the iOS devices via Bluetooth 4.0.

My son and I really liked the iBitz Powerkey for children! The Free iOS PowerKey app is available for download at the App Store that walks you through the complete device registration process. This was super easy! What my son liked was that the app for iBitz PowerKey includes an interactive game that features virtual pet characters called GeoBotz. Walking, running and playing while wearing iBitz PowerKey keeps the GeoBotz character alive. As the child becomes more active, the app-based character gains power.  “This is really cool!”, said my son. There is also a GeoPalz compatible website where parents can motivate children to be more physically active by rewarding them with prizes for reaching activity-oriented goals. The website features custom “GeoPalz Prize Wall” that is integrated with Amazon.com. This is really cool and a real motivator for kids. The company has also recently announced their partnership with Disney’s Club Penguin and with the purchase of the PowerKey, you also receive a free 14-day trial membership to Club Penguin.

The iBitz Unity for adults is also pretty cool! It can track steps, distance, weight, height, overall physical activity and even BMI. I love that the unit syncs wirelessly with the Unity on my iphone. Devices sync with: iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad Mini, iPad 4, iPod Touch (5th Gen) and Syncs using iOS 6.1. or greater. The iBitz PowerKey for children retails for $34.99 and the iBitz Unity for adults retails for $49.00. To purchase an iBitz by GeoPalz device or to view the full retailers list, visit http://geopalz.com/store/view-all-ibitz.php.  These really are a must-have for children and adults! They would also make a great holiday gift!
