She was a top scholar, which earned her a position with the prestigious “President’s Own”, which is also known as the White House military band. She graciously declined in order to seek musical ventures in Los Angeles. Although the orchestras of the West Coast were her main goal, word of an audition with Ray Charles caught her attention. With no vocal experience, she sang for Charles and was hired immediately.  She traveled the world with the genius of soul, and eventually went on to work as a backup singer for Michael Bolton, Sheena Easton, Chaka Khan, Gloria Estefan, Aaron Neville and Barry White.
