Favorite, Oct. 20th Pet of the Week

October is Love Large month at Long Beach Animal Care Services! Big dogs take up a lot of space at shelters, and it’s not because of their size—it’s that there are so many of them! Poor Favorite has been in the shelter for three months. He was surrendered by his owner because of what our pet behaviorist calls “teacher’s pet syndrome”—becoming defensive whenever another dog in the home tried to interact with his owners. Well, he’s a shelter favorite now, and he can be yours. He enjoys interactions and play groups with other dogs and he loves the volunteers, but he really needs out because he becomes stressed when he has to return to the kennel. Please give him a chance to live up to his name. Adoption fees for big dogs are waived until Oct. 31, and you can speed the process to adopt or foster Barbara and any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Even better, stop by during our new open walk-in hours every Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Our shelter is located at 7700 E. Spring St. Ask for ID#679113 to meet Favorite.
