Easter Basket Idea for Girls!

These dolls are not your average dolls in the marketplace today.

Lottie has a message for young girls… Be bold, be brave, be you!

We all talk about it…girls and body image. Media images of perfection that can never be achieved, sexy pictures and Halloween costumes that allow girls to be prematurely sexualized and not allowing girls to be girls anymore. Even in the doll isle, it is hard to find good representations of what young girls should look like and give positive messages about letting them be themselves. Even Barbie has chosen sex appeal over its young girl market when it chose to be part of the SI Swimsuit Issue (SEE HERE)

To address these issues, Arklu launched Lottie in August 2012, a new, innovative doll for children aged 3- 9.

Lottie has been based on the scientific proportions of a 9 year old child, with the exception of her head (which has been increased to accommodate hair play). She does not wear jeweler, makeup or high heels. She can stand on her own two feet. Lottie is fun and educational; an affordable, aspirational ‘pro girl’ doll. Her clothes are vibrant in color and have significant attention to detail. Lottie’s clothes are very much activity based, in line with those of a 9 year old instead of an adult. She wears pretty dresses, as well as hard-wearing clothes for muddy, outdoors play. Lottie allows girls to be girls and enjoy their childhood, in all its facets.

Since her debut, Lottie has won 19 awards in the USA, Canada and UK, including 5 Oppenheim Portfolio Platinum Awards, generated international press coverage and been the beneficiary of positive parent and blogger reviews.

We received two of these Lottie Dolls to review and my first reaction was “OH WOW!!! They are just too sweet!” I wish they had these dolls when I was a young girl! We received Pandora’s Box and Autumn Leaves and my niece can’t wait to see me this Easter because she says she loves these dolls!  What I love is that these dolls really are so age appropriate  and really adorable and cool at the same time! I love the accessories you can purchase to go with them. We received Pandora The Persian Cat, Biscuit The Beagle and Boogie Boarder! We had to request a sample of Boogie Boarder because well…we do live in sunny So Cal!

I love the whole message of Lottie…Be bold, be brave, be you! It really is such an important message for young girls today!
