Coal looks as if he belongs either on the steps of the New York Library or sitting next to ancient-Egyptian royalty. We’re not certain of his age, which adds to the mystery. But don’t let that austere countenance fool you—Coal is a snuggler, a purrer, and an occasional talker. If you’d like to take Coal to your palace, meet him on the shelter side of the Companion Animal Village at 7700 East Spring St., (562) 570-PETS. Ask for ID#A623970.
(This rescue encouraged by the usual suspects.)
