“Good Dog Carl,” a Rottweiler/pit bull mix, has been at Long Beach Animal Care Services since November 2025. Carl was just a few months old when he came to the shelter—as one volunteer said, he’s literally grown up there. He’s also grown to be quite a charmer. One of his favorite things to do is to fall asleep with his big head on your hand. Volunteer Nici said it best: “Carl is that quietly mysterious, handsome guy at the party who’s hanging out by the snack table, pretending he didn’t notice you while secretly hoping you’ll come say hi. Once you’ve been officially approved by Carl’s very thorough committee of one, you’ll discover a sweet, gentle friend who thinks you’re pretty much the greatest human there ever was.” Carl knows basic commands and is smart beyond his years (or rather, months). He’s eager to learn new things to show off to his special family when he’s adopted. Although Carl has grown up with nothing but love and attention, an animal shelter is no place for a loving doggie to grow up. Come meet him!
