Smokey and Missy, Nov. 17 Pets of the Month

awwwwwwwww! Double the cuteness!

Smokey and Missy II were surrendered at the shelter by someone who claimed that they’d found the dogs. When the staff checked their microchips, it turned out that the finders were actually the owners. These two deserve better. November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month, and we hope that Smokey, a senior 13-year old Labrador retriever, will go to a loving home with his caregiver, Missy II, a 7-year-old healthy German shepherd. Smokey has some health issues, but he deserves to live out his years with love instead of prematurely at our shelter. You can speed the process to adopt or foster Smokey and Missy II or any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Even better, stop by during our walk-in hours every Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Our shelter is located at 7700 E. Spring St. Ask for ID#A487310 to meet Smokey and ID#A710081 to meet Missy. We’re at capacity, and everyone needs homes!
