Celebrate Children & Families in Little Tokyo with Fiesta Matsuri on May 5th!

Go Little Tokyo for Fiesta Matsuri on Sunday, May 5th! Hosted by the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (JACCC), Fiesta Matsuri is a free cross-cultural celebration combining Children’s Day in two communities—Kodomo no hi in Japan and Dîa de los niños in Mexico. Both holidays celebrate the growth, happiness, and success of children and immerse families in the vibrant traditions through art, dance, and song. Enjoy a free day of workshops and performances for the whole family.
In partnership with Visual Communications, Fiesta Matsuri will include and host one of the opening weekend events of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival for a selection of films called “Kids Shorts (Not the Kind You Wear)” on Sunday, May 5th at 11 AM in the Aratani Theatre. This family-friendly program showcases films highlighting stories of courage, determination, fascinations, and plain old hunger.

Bear Awareness Day at the OC Zoo May 4th!

Join the County of Orange and OC Parks for Bear Awareness Day at the OC Zoo on Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gather family and friends for a day of bear-themed activities, zookeeper chats and more.

The OC Zoo’s annual Bear Awareness Day invites families to learn more about the black bear while enjoying various fun-filled activities including crafts for kids and special zookeeper chats about bears. Bear Awareness Day will also feature a learning station where families can find more information about bear conservation and research, learn how to “bear proof” camping sites and what to do if you encounter a bear.

Bear Awareness Day is free with a paid admission ticket to the zoo, which costs $2 per person (ages 2 and under are free). Parking is $5 per vehicle and reservations are not required.

Miguel’s Jr. will host a grand opening celebration on Thursday, May 2 at 3:30 p.m. Marking the first Miguel’s Jr. to open in the city of Rialto, the event will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony, hosted by Miguel’s Jr. founders Mike and Mary Vasquez and President and CEO Javier Vasquez.

The Rialto location is reflective of Miguel’s Jr. original and classic design aesthetic featuring the convenience of a drive-thru for guests on the go, as well as a full dining area. The new Rialto restaurant will offer all of the latest Miguel’s Jr. menu items including six famous signature burritos, hand rolled in all-natural hand stretched flour tortillas. The menu also includes homemade horchata, lemonade, and the brand new CoffeeChata made with Miguel’s Jr. signature homemade horchata mixed with 100% all-natural premium natural Columbian coffee served over ice.
