Donuts Take Center Stage in the Big Apple! Entenmann's® Hosting a National Donut Day 2017 Party on June 2 in Heart of New York City and Consumers can "Win Free Donuts for a Year"

National Donut Day is tomorrow!  


Entenmann’s® Bakery, a division of Bimbo Bakeries USA, is making donuts the star of New York by bringing its 2017 National Donut Day celebration to Times Square, on June 2.  Fans will have the opportunity to sample delicious Entenmann’s Donuts, take part in fun activities and be wowed by the world famous Harlem Globetrotters.


Thousands of donuts will be given away throughout the 2017 National Donut Day celebration. Fans who cannot be in New York can join the festivities Live on Entenmann’s® Facebook page and share in the fun using #NationalDonutDay and #Entenmanns.


Starting today, specially marked National Donut Day boxes of delicious Rich Frosted Donuts are available for purchase, and consumers can enter into the “Win Free Donuts for a Year” sweepstakes via Entenmann’s® Facebook page. For each entry, $1 will be donated to charity partner Feeding America, up to $10,000. With 200 Food Banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs throughout the U.S., Feeding America is able to serve 1 in 7 Americans and continue the fight against hunger in our country.  More information about the sweepstakes and donation program is available

American Homebrewers Association Hosts Rally in San Pedro, Calif. at Brouwerij West on June 4

The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) hosts a series of AHA Rallies nationwide to give homebrewers the chance to check out some of their local breweries and connect with other beer enthusiasts and homebrewers in their area. This upcoming AHA Rally will take place at Brouwerij West and offers the opportunity to take a VIP tour of the brewery, meetBrouwerij West brewers and staff, enjoy beer samples and win great prizes. Plus, event parking is free—and all attendees will take home a Rally-exclusive gift from the AHA!

The fiercely independent film festival Dances With Films (DWF) is pleased to announce the date for its 4th annual edition of Dances With Kidz!, which will take place on Saturday, June 10, 2017

DWF’s popular and unique DANCES WITH KIDZ! program is back for its fourth year of family-friendly films, with 28 of the 34 short films in the lineup created by kids under the age of 18.  Films this year explore themes as diverse as friendship, growing up in the 90’s, and space exploration. DANCES WITH KIDZ! will rock the Chinese Theaters on the second weekend of DWF.

I love this delightful story and it is just perfect for the Spring! It’s not only about the Spring and flowers blooming, it is also about growing up. I also like that Mom and the daughter are different races which really relates to today’s times. 


WILDLIFE: A MAP COLORING BOOK by Natalie Hughes (Macmillan Children’s/Henry Holt BYR, 978-1-25011-439-6, March 2017 (ages 6-12)
I love the fact that this book has perforated edges so that the completed maps can be torn out and proudly hung up! There are colorful illustrations with small facts so it is also educational as it teaches about the world!

Take Your Time

TAKE YOUR TIME by Eva Furrow and Donna Jo Napoli; illustrated by Laurel Molk (Macmillan Children’s/Henry Holt BYR, 978-0-80509-521-0, April 2017, ages 4-8)
I love how Harriet the tortoise reminds readers to slow down and appreciate their surroundings! I also love that this teaches about the animals that live in the Galapagos Islands. It’s an educational book filled with facts and brightly colored illustrations.
