I love this backpack! My favorite thing is that it is extremely lightweight. I also thought that it was very small when I first saw it but that was before I unfolded it. After unfolding it, I found that it i just the perfect size! It’s definitely bigger than it looks. It is available in two color choices: blue and grey and pink & grey. I am very happy with the pink & grey color that I chose. I am quite impressed and love that it is not bulky and heavy like most backpacks that are sitting in my closet. This one is just perfect for day trips and Summer adventures.

The Bazillions

PromoImage

With tremendous excitement, the award-winning, Minneapolis-based kindie band The Bazillions looks ahead to the July 17th release of their third album of upbeat, jangly pop tunes infused with brainy lyrics, clear learning goals, and catchy energy, On The Bright Side.

Very much inspired by Schoolhouse Rock, The Bazillions have fun musically while helping kids pick up bits of interesting information along the way.  The band successfully walks the fine line that combines first-rate educational aims with outstanding entertainment and musicianship.  Enthused Jeff Bogle of Out With The Kids, “The kindie music world has a fair amount of power alt/rock bands, but the one on the scene that carries forth the sonic crunchiness, killer pop hooks, and vocal clarity of Matthew Sweet is The Bazillions.”

On The Bright Side defines the word “bright” on multiple levels, ranging from wacky and hopeful songs describing the life of an elementary school age child to songs that explore the intricacies of grammar.  Moving adroitly from topics like what superheroes do in their spare time to the “best friend” letters Q and U, The Bazillions show influences from The Beatles, The Hollies, Big Star, Fleetwood Mac, and other masters of the world of pop music.  Their songs are essentially story-based.  Even the “educational” songs succeed in presenting narratives and painting pictures for listeners to visualize as they hum along.

The Bazillions also paint pictures via their ongoing collaboration with the animation firm EG Design, whose amazing body of work (11 animated Bazillions videos so far, scoring more than 2.2 million YouTube hits) has brought a whole new level of engagement to The Bazillions experience.

The Bazillions began in 2010 when parents/educators/singer-songwriters Adam and Kristin Marshall were teaching at Kenny Elementary School in Minneapolis.  From their first days in the classroom, the couple found themselves writing songs for and with their students.  Before long, the kids knew every word to every song, and parents had started asking for a CD.  So, along with the other members of their indie pop band The Humbugs, the Marshalls recorded and released Rock-n-Roll Recess under a new alter-ego band name, The Bazillions.

The Bazillions thought they were making a one-time, “just for fun” CD.  “I doubt we will even do any shows,” Adam Marshall told his band mates.  To his surprise, five years down the road finds The Bazillionsan award-winning, 2.2+ million hit viral media machine, with hundreds of live performances under their belts.

Previous albums by The Bazillions include Heads or Tales (2012,Parents’ Choice Silver Award) and Rock-n-Roll Recess (2010).  Their 2014 DVD The Bazillions’ Rockin’ Video Collection was recently honored with an Academics’ Choice Award.

I received an advanced copy of this CD and love the lyrics! I highly recommend for young children! The music is really fun!

On The Bright Side will be available at iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby,thebazillions.com, and at all The Bazillions’ shows.

Mr. Mister Mosquito Control Offers Tips to Protect Children

unnamed (1)

In light of the upcoming National Mosquito Control Awareness Week (June 21 – 27), Mr. Mister Mosquito Control, one of the top rated mosquito control companies in the country, is urging families to be aware as we near the height of another busy mosquito season.

Recent reports have officials preparing for the threats of West Nile and Chikungunya for the 2015 season. Mosquito season starts in March and lasts through October, making this preparation timely for the imminent arrival of breeding mosquitoes.

Recommendations include:

  • A plant based bug spray such as Bite Blocker Organic Xtreme.
  • Eliminate standing water as mosquito larvae can exist in as little as 2 tablespoons of standing water. Children’s toys are the #1 culprits (here’s looking at you sand pails and water tables!)
  • Stock any ornamental ponds with guppies, koi, or goldfish (most healthy, hungry fish will eliminate the majority of mosquito larvae from ponds).
  • Eliminate decaying foliage from ground.
  • Use fans in living areas that are without a natural breeze or air movement.

“We are already on the ground taking every precaution to protect our clients young and old. As always, we are urging at-home awareness with removing toys’ standing water and other easy steps that, when coupled with systems, make for a mosquito free yard,” states Matt Brill, owner, Mr. Mister.

Mr. Mister is highly invested in giving back to local communities and across the globe. With new customers, they donate life-saving mosquito nets through Nothing But Nets to help combat the epidemic of malaria and other mosquito-borne illnesses. Mr. Mister readily donates to Adopt a Golden Atlanta by funding heartworm medication for orphaned Golden Retrievers, as Heartworm Disease in dogs is exclusively caused and transmitted by mosquitoes. Also protecting our littlest ones from the threats of mosquitoes, Mr. Mister regularly provides pro bono treatments at community schools and parks, including: Atlanta’s Weinstein Preschool, Morningside Elementary, Globe Charter School, Dunwoody’s Brook Run Dog Park, and Little Nancy Creek Park in Buckhead.

Mr. Mister Mosquito Control offers ClearZone Misting treatments and Automated Misting Systems for complete protection and control. As a resource, www.mrmr.biz outlines mosquito solutions to fit families‘ outdoor lifestyles.

To commemorate the Rancho’s transfer from the Bixby family to the City of Long Beach in 1955, Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site is presenting Back To The 50’s, a celebration of American Rock n’ Roll, Jazz, and Country Music. The series takes place on the fourth Sunday of the month between June and August, and is completely free. The series begins on Sunday, June 28, with a performance by The Smokin’ Cobras, a high energy sextet that’s performed at festivals up and down the California coast, and throughout Southern California. They have a vast repertoire of songs that span decades but, for this performance, they will stay focused primarily on the Rock n’ Roll explosion of the ‘50’s.
In July, the series continues with Chet Getz Cool, featuring the music of Chet Baker and Stan Getz and, in August, The Walking Phoenixes will resurrect the spirit of the Man in Black, Johnny Cash. Guests are welcome to bring blankets and low beach-style chairs. Pets and smoking are not allowed anywhere on the site. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. I really like these Tweezers because they are unique and work really well! I mean..have you ever heard of Tweezers shaped like a Fish? I have to admit that is a bit quirky! But, I do like quirky and cute! These definitely are both. But, I also like that they are very lightweight and easy to hold and use. They even remove splinters with ease! They are made from stainless steel and they are durable. I also like that the slanted tips of the tweezers really make plucking eyebrows a easy task.
