Tuxedo Joe, June 28 Pet of the Week

Loves to play! He needs a forever home!

On June 23, Long Beach Animal Care Services began its yearly project of emptying the dog kennels for Foster the Fourth. Fireworks are illegal for private use in Long Beach, but nonetheless, people set them off, and dogs can get frightened and run in terror. Our shelter takes in a goodly number every July 4 season, and they need to make room for them. Tuxedo Joe would love a shelter break. Don’t let that tux fool you—he’s no snob! He leans in for pets for people and will happily play fetch for hours, like any one-year-old dog just outgrowing puppyhood. Foster the 4th meetups take place by appointment on Tuesday, June 25 and Tuesday, July 2. Please submit your Foster Application before visiting the shelter. To schedule an appointment on either Tuesday, June 25 or July 2, email PetFoster@longbeach.govOur shelter hours are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 7700 E. Spring St. at the entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors. Ask for ID# A718919.
