Support March of Dimes with Special Fathers Day Recipes & Crafts

Nearly four million healthy babies were born last year thanks to innovations that resulted from funding from the March of Dimes. The 2014 March of Dimes “imbornto” campaign celebrates the fantastic things babies were born to do and thanks the mothers and fathers who brought them into the world.

Through Father’s Day, the Foundation is partnering with media, retailers and brands to remind everyone when they reflect on family that no matter what you were born to do, the March of Dimes helped you get there. Funds raised will help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies.

How can you help?

This Father’s Day, thank your dad with a Father’s Day meal or craft. Because after all, if there were no dads, there would be no babies, and no you. Check out these recipes and crafts (several below), courtesy of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and help us say, “Thank you,” to your dad.

Easy Entertaining March 2012

Roasted Buffalo Shrimp


  • Finely grated zest of 2 lemons (2 tablespoons), plus 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3/4 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons sweet paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or more to taste
  • Coarse salt
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails intact
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup pale-green celery leaves, finely chopped


  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place 2 rimmed baking sheets in oven to heat. Stir together lemon zest, garlic, celery seeds, paprika, cayenne, 2 teaspoons salt, the honey, and oil in a large bowl. Add shrimp, and toss to coat well.
  2. Place shrimp in a single layer on hot pans. Roast, without flipping, until browned on bottoms and opaque throughout, about 5 minutes.Meanwhile, make the dip: Stir together lemon juice, sour cream, celery leaves, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Serve with cooked shrimp.

Folded Shirt Card


  • 8 1/2-by-14-inch decorative paper
  • Glue


  • Place paper facedown. Fold in half vertically; unfold. Line up left edge with centerline fold, and crease; repeat with right edge. Unfold, and lay flat.
  • Fold top-left corner in to line up with outermost crease, forming a triangle; repeat on top-right corner. Using index fingers and thumbs, pinch together outside points of each triangle so they meet, and crease.
  • While still pinching triangles, fold down top edge (this will make sleeves).
  • Turn paper upside down, and flip it over. Fold down top edge 3/4 inch.
  • Flip paper over. Fold top left and right corners so tips meet at centerline.
  • Tuck bottom edge under collar, and flatten by creasing. For the tie, cut out an 8-by-1/2-inch strip of decorative paper. Knot paper. Snip close to knot on one side; trim other to a point. Glue to shirt.
