Special Instructions: This hike travels about 3.5 miles, up to the top of Loma Ridge

road, you may wear regular running or walking shoes. Trail shoes are fine, but not

June 4 – Twilight Hike in the Canyons: Mesa Loop

Join us for some after work exercise on the Mesa Loop. The hike will cover close to 3 miles round trip at a moderate pace and will offer us beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding canyons and sunset. Keep your eyes open for any animals starting their nightly routines.

Explore beautiful Wood Canyon and discover its native flora and fauna with Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer naturalists on this steep, uneven and rocky 5-mile hike (depending on trail choice, up to a 500-ft. elevation gain). While we will stop from time to time, spending moments to “discover,” this hike isn’t for beginners.

June 5 – Equestrian Ride: Discover the Natural Wonders of Weir Canyon

Be prepared to experience the beauty and wonder of Weir Canyon, steeped in history and lore, on this morning equestrian ride. The ride will travel through Weir Canyon, where the trail weaves its way through a beautiful oak woodland inhabited by deer, coyote, bobcat and many different birds. You will travel the route of the Butterfield Stage and see a monument dedicated to the Mexican ox cart drivers. If time permits, we will climb to the Two Tower vista point to look at distant views. This ride travels on wide trails with several easy to moderate climbs. Equestrians who have trail riding experience and their own fit and able horse are welcome.

Gain hands-on experience with habitat restoration while working alongside other zany and interesting plant lovers!

This is a moderate-paced ride designed for the intermediate rider who has experience and skills, but sometimes needs to move slower in more technical areas with steep descents/ascents. This program is for very physically fit riders in excellent cardio condition. The ride starts at the Augustine staging area and travels along the Hick’s Haul paved road, continuing to Shoestring, Augustine, The Sinks, Raptor and the adjacent oak woodlands.

If you use the wilderness parks for hiking, biking, photography or just relaxing, Trail Stewardship might be right up your alley! Get up close and personal with the trail you use; you’ll see the trails in a whole new way. This is fun, dirty, hard work. Whatever your skill level is, there is a job to do: clearing and improving drains; trimming back brush; spreading native seed; naturalizing impacted areas and caching dirt. We will be using provided tools such as loppers, picks, shovels and McLeods. Hiking is part of the experience and depending on the trail work can be 3 – 4 miles.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese exercise renowned for the benefits of its slow, non-stressful physical exercises as well as its meditative qualities. There are no rest stops on this approximately 5 mile cardio hike, and the average 3.5 mile per hour fast-pace can be difficult over steep terrain in the wilderness setting. Please bring a minimum of 70 oz. water and trail snacks. June 22 – Trail Stewardship Day

If you use the wilderness parks for hiking, biking, photography or just relaxing, Trail Stewardship might be right up your alley! Get up close and personal with the trail you use; you’ll see the trails in a whole new way. This is fun, dirty, hard work. Whatever your skill level is, there is a job to do: clearing and improving drains; trimming back brush; spreading native seed; naturalizing impacted areas and caching dirt. We will be using provided tools such as loppers, picks, shovels and McLeods. Hiking is part of the experience and depending on the trail work can be 3 – 4 miles.

Join us for a strenuous, extremely challenging, fast-paced, afternoon cardio hike starting in Limestone Canyon. Along the way we’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of Orange County and possible wildlife sightings. This is a 8.5 mile cardio hike, completed in 2.5 hours and includes a 1600+ foot elevation change. This hike is for experienced, physically fit hikers who enjoy the challenge of multiple steep climbs and descents.

June 26 – Keep It Wild – Aliso Creek

Join Laguna Canyon Foundation and OC Parks for our habitat restoration stewardship in Aliso and Wood Canyons. We’ll learn and work together to create a healthier home for the park’s native plants and wildlife. Depending on the time of year, volunteers may assist with removal of non-native plants, seed collection, planting of native plants and/or trash pick-up along the creek.
