Stores in the north mall area of Del Amo Fashion Center will begin relocating to their new spaces by January 31, to make way for construction of a new two-level mall as part of a complete transformation of South Bay’s premier retail destination.
The section of the north mall slated for closure and relocation runs from Typo and Lids, moving north up to H&M, where the center’s outdoor lifestyle wing starts. The state-of-the-art two-level mall will connect the existing Macy’s women’s store with a new Nordstrom store (to be located near the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard and Fashion Way).
Shoppers can still find their favorite stores (and some stellar deals too) during the relocation and construction with the help of directional signage and additional backlit directories with updated store locations and store information. Directory greeters will be available on select weekends to help shoppers navigate the mall and find the new locations of their favorite stores.
“We’re excited for the transformation of Del Amo Fashion Center that is underway and want to help our loyal shoppers through the process as much as possible,” said Lindsay Hermance, director of marketing and business development at Del Amo Fashion Center.
A list of preliminary store locations thus far, is as follows:
- Cotton On, Cotton On Kids, Frederick’s of Hollywood, Lane Bryant, MAC, PacSun, American Eagle, Justice, Express and Claire’s are slated to temporarily relocate to the south portion of the center, between Macy’s and Sears. Victoria’s Secret and Lens Crafters will keep their locations in the south portion of the center as well.
- Temporarily relocating to the second level of the outdoor lifestyle wing are Robert Wayne Footwear and Stride Rite. H&M Men, Women and Kids, which will be relocating by Valentine’s Day, will have two locations on the first level of the lifestyle wing. In addition, Old Navy will celebrate the grand re-opening of its new permanent location on the second level of the lifestyle wing on Jan. 24 and throughout the weekend, through Jan. 26.
- In addition, the following stores will be relocating to their permanent homes near the new Patio Cafes dining experience, near the central Macy’s store: The Disney Store, Zumiez, Aeropostale, Gymboree and Hollister. Also moving near Patio Cafes is Build-A-Bear Workshop’s newly imagined store, which has been enhanced with innovative technology to provide a richer, more interactive experience for children and families. Shoppers can celebrate at the grand opening on Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and family friendly entertainment throughout the day.
The community is encouraged to watch the Del Amo Fashion Center Facebook page for up-to-date news on the renovation efforts, including timing of store re-openings.
The redevelopment project will also include enhancements to the outdoor lifestyle village, additional parking capacity with a new 1,900 car garage, the addition of lush landscaping throughout the entire property, new informational signage, and improvements to customer circulation in and around the center. Completion of this work will be timed with the grand opening of Nordstrom in Fall 2015.
