LA’s Beloved Andrew & Polly Are Back! – Sept. 24 – Children’s Book World, LA

Andrew & Polly are back! After a long summer season of touring across the country, the fun and quirky LA-based kids’ duo is excited to return home to present a free, interactive, acoustic mini-concert at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 at Children’s Book World, 10580 1/2 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles.

Children’s Book World is the spot to see Andrew & Polly up-close-and-personal as they deliver their special brand of smart, imaginative, and bravely silly performance. Fans might just hear a brand new song or catch the duo working out a skit for their kids’ podcast, Ear Snacks.

Kids and families nationwide know and love the music of Andrew & Polly from hearing their songs on Sirius XM’s Kids Place Live (where “Grapes” was the #1 song of the year for 2015 and “Dancing Pants” reached #1 this summer) and onNickelodeon and Sesame Studios projects.

Andrew & Polly connect with kids in a big way. Their acoustic sets are highly interactive, improvising off of kids’ lyric suggestions and encouraging the crowd to join in. The duo takes time during each concert to demonstrate their array of instruments, secretly slipping musical vocabulary into the show. While their studio arrangements are lushly layered, Andrew & Polly rely on the audience to act as back-up singers and percussion during their live shows, fleshing out the duo’s quirky instrumentation, which includes ukulele, synthesizers, accordion, harmonica, glockenspiel, percussion and occasional beatboxing. After the show, fans are invited to try out the instruments with Andrew, get a sticker or stamp from Polly, and even request an encore rendition of any favorite songs they might have missed.

Andrew Barkan and Polly Hall are in demand for their sparkling music for grown-up films, TV, and commercials, but their true love is creating and performing music for children. The married couple makes no bones about where their priorities lie. According to Andrew, “The commercial accolades are nice, but much more meaningful to us was winning the prestigious ASCAP Foundation Joe Raposo Children’s Music Award for a song from our debut children’s album, Up and At ‘Em!“

Andrew & Polly’s third album of playful pop tunes for kids, Ear Snacks: Songs from the Podcast, will be released on September 30th. Previous albums byAndrew & Polly include Odds & Ends (2015, Parents’ Choice® Award, Fids & Kamily Top 10 Albums of the Year), Up and At ‘Em! (2010, ASCAP Foundation Joe Raposo Children’s Music Award for the song “When You’re a Dog”), and a holiday EP,Other Days (2015).
