Dana Point Harbor Welcomes 41st Annual Turkey Trot

The County of Orange, OC Parks, and Dana Point Harbor invite the community to experience the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce’s 41st annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, November 22. Enjoy races for all ages and a special two-day Health and Wellness Expo, then visit the harbor to enjoy delicious eateries and niche shopping.

“The Turkey Trot is among the largest and longest continuously running Thanksgiving races in the nation. We’re thrilled to celebrate this family-friendly race in its 41st year,” said Supervisor Lisa Bartlett, 5th District. “Whether starting a new tradition or returning as a seasoned participant, the Turkey Trot is a wonderful opportunity for families and the community to come together and enjoy scenic Dana Point before heading home or to the harbor for Thanksgiving dinner.”

The Dana Point Turkey Trot will be held from 6 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 22. Registered participants can walk, jog, or run a 5K or 10K through picturesque Dana Point Harbor and Doheny State Beach. Kids ages 4-12 can also join the fun during the Kids’ Gobble Wobble race. Parents are allowed and encouraged to join their children during the Gobble Wobble race without prior registration. All participants will receive a shirt prior to the race and will be awarded a medal after crossing the finish line. Participants are invited to get festive during the Turkey Trot’s annual costume contest. Different categories include best adult costume, best child costume, and best group costume.

The Health and Wellness Expo will be open at the harbor on November 21 from 12 – 7 p.m. and November 22 from 6 – 11 a.m. and will feature local and national vendors and offer Turkey Trot bib and t-shirt pickup.

The harbor features several dining options including fine and casual dining, coffee shops, and niche eateries. Explore Dana Point Harbor on Thanksgiving Day to enjoy coffee and breakfast from Coffee Importers, where the espresso bar will be open from 5:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and the Deli & Juice Bar will serve guests from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Gemmell’s will be open from 12- 7 p.m., serving a three-course Thanksgiving dinner for just $38.95. Harpoon Henry’s will be serving a Thanksgiving dinner from 12 – 8 p.m. with delicious selections such as oven roasted turkey, macadamia mahi-mahi, Atlantic salmon, prime rib, and pumpkin pie. The Brig Restaurant will also be open for normal business hours and will be serving a special Thanksgiving turkey dinner.
