Mr. Robinson, March 9th Pet of the Week

Mr. Robinson has been described as a “real ham” by the volunteers at the shelter. Give him a plush toy, said one, and he’ll entertain himself for a long time. Mr. R. is a high-energy hippo who would love to live with someone as energetic. Mr. Robinson adores people and likes rubs and chest scratches. He gets along with other dogs as well, so if you have a buddy for him, great! He loves walks, too, but he can get tuggy, so someone experienced with big dogs would do best with him. A shelter isn’t a good environment for a dog like Mr. Robinson, no matter how much attention he gets. Our shelter hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 7700 E. Spring St. at the entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors). You can email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process for adopting or fostering Mr. Robinson. Ask for ID#A680285.

Brandy, March 2nd Pet of the Week

Yep, she’s a fine girl. What a good housecat she would be. Brandy came to our shelter when her human died, and she was sad and shy. She’s since become friendly and loves attention and petting. She’s a beautiful brown tabby, as you can see, with possibly some Maine coon cat in her. She’s only 4 and would love to spend her life in a good home with a caring human. Shelter hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 7700 E. Spring St. at the entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors). You can email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process for adopting or fostering Brandy. Ask for ID#A688670).

Preston, Feb. 16th Pet of the Week

Awwwww!

Valentine’s Day has passed, and dear Preston still hasn’t found forever love. The guy’s been waiting since October! Preston’s a tall, slender 2-year-old pittie who loves to have fun and then chill, preferably with you on the couch watching Netflix. He’s smart as anything, knows a lot of tricks, and sure loves his meals. The way to Preston’s heart may be through his stomach, but cuddles and “good boy!” go a longer way with him! You can speed the process to adopt or foster Preston and any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Even better, stop by during our walk-in hours every Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Our shelter is located at 7700 E. Spring St. Ask for ID#A686171 to meet Preston. We’re at capacity, and everyone needs homes!

Steadman, Feb. 9th Pet of the Week

What’s Steadman doing in a swimming pool in the middle of winter? Well, the photo was taken in August! Steadman came in as a stray in May and has been beached here for too long. He’s about 5 years old and loves to have fun. If you’re not familiar with the husky breed, they’re devoted, spirited and playful and require above-normal levels of activity. But if they don’t get it, they’re notorious escape artists and will likely find adventure on their own. They also shed like mad and talk a lot! But they’re loyal and such fun! Steadman needs to find a new place to dog-paddle. You can speed the process to adopt or foster Steadman and any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Even better, stop by during our walk-in hours every Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Our shelter is located at 7700 E. Spring St. Ask for ID#A674834 to meet Steadman. We’re at capacity, and everyone needs homes!

Anu, Feb. 3rd Pet of the Week

Anu is a 2-year-old mostly German shepherd, with maybe a pinch of husky. She’s a shelter favorite who’s right now licking her chops because she was snacking on falling raindrops. Anu can bring sunshine to a rainy day! Like most of our shelter pets, Anu hasn’t been blessed with good luck. She was abandoned when her family moved—left on the property until she managed to escape (likely, that husky element!). She was found as a stray and brought to the shelter, where the volunteers got her decompressed and over her initial shyness. As one volunteer said, she’s already been through a lot in her young life with people that didn’t deserve her. She’s been at the shelter too long. Anu will flourish with a patient, large-breed-savvy human. You can speed the process to adopt or foster Anu and any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Even better, stop by during our walk-in hours every Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Our shelter is located at 7700 E. Spring St. Ask for ID#A674004 to meet Anu. We’re at capacity, and everyone needs homes!

Miss Daisy, Jan. 26th Pet of the Week

Don’t let the solemnity fool you—Miss Daisy is a 2-year-old love!. She was nervous when she got to the shelter, but volunteer Susan, who combines “determined” and “loving,” brought her to the point of purring and biscuit making, especially when it’s done with a back scratcher. She wiggles all over the place! Miss Daisy would love someone to drive her home. Shelter hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 7700 E. Spring St. at the entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors). You can email PetAdopt@longbeach.gov to speed the process for adopting or fostering Miss Daisy. Ask for ID#A676122).

Selina, Jan. 19th Pet of the Week

This darling dog is named Selina. Selina, a 4-year-old pit bull mix, was found in October with her buddy, abandoned and loose in the El Dorado Nature Center. The shelter was short-staffed that day, and both dogs had to wait in a nearby yard until the officers could pick them up. No one claimed them, and both went up for adoption. Selina’s friend got lucky, but Selina’s still waiting for her forever family. She’d do best in a home with no cats, but she does love people. In fact, her favorite trick is cuddling! You can speed the process to adopt or foster Selina and any of our other pets by emailing PetAdopt@longbeach.gov or petfoster@longbeach.gov. You can also call (562) 570-4925. Even better, stop by during our walk-in hours every Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Our shelter is located at 7700 E. Spring St. Ask for ID#A686900 to meet Selina. We’re at capacity, and everyone needs homes!
