The Aquarium of the Pacific will host its fifth annual Urban Ocean Festival on Saturday and Sunday, May 3 and 4, 2014. The Pacific waters off Southern California host an array of industrial and recreational activities and provide habitat for a diverse group of animals. Visitors to this festival can learn more about and appreciate our urban ocean. The festival will include art exhibitions, The Trashin’ Fashion Show and contest for designs using recycled materials (on Sunday, May 4), mural painting, poetry readings, booths, live band performances, educational activities, sustainable seafood cooking demonstrations by SAVOR… with seafood provided by State Fish Co., and more. Urban Ocean boat cruises will also be available during the weekend at an additional cost. During the festival, the Aquarium will debut its new film about aquaculture (fish/shellfish farming), which will be shown daily in its Ocean Science Center.
