This weekend, on June 27 and 28, Casey MacLean, an ambitious, altruistic 13 year old aspiring firefighter from Marina Del Rey, CA will ride his bike from Fire Station #62 located at 11970 Venice Blvd in Los Angeles to the Whole Foods Market in  La Jolla, San Diego. Last year, he did his first 100 mile ride from Culver City to Santa Barbara and raised $4,100. This year, he is riding 130 miles with the goal to raise $5,000 for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and his education fund. This is the second year Whole Foods Market is sponsoring his ride and Patrick Bradley, Southern Pacific Regional President will join him for the second half of his ride, from the Laguna Niguel Whole Foods Market store to La Jolla. In addition to Whole Foods Market, Casey has gained support from: GoPro, Wheel World Cycles, Santini SMS, Outlaw Graphix, Invo Coconut Water, Beyond Meat, Hornblower Cruises, Stromer, Bike Attack Electrc+, and Thule. Whole Foods Market got involved when Casey came into the store and shared his story. Last weekend they hosted a BBQ to fundraise and managed to collect nearly $1,000. More info about Casey and his cause available here: http://www.mybikeride.net/

I know it’s Summer but it’s never too early to start thinking about Halloween costumes! I know that I always start thinking and planning before Fall arrives!  Also, costumes can be worn for a variety of other occasions from birthday celebrations to summer party celebrations! I recently received a Black Tutu Morphsuit and can’t wait for Halloween to wear it! I did try it on and it’s really comfortable, fits well and I like that it is rather unique! The Tutu is a really nice touch!  It’s slightly classy and reminds me of the classic little black dress. The Tutu Morphsuit also comes in pink. But, if you rather not have the tutu, there are many other choices available!

SHTN3224_ST_CUTERSRBLM

This is a Must-Have this Summer! After Winter taking a toll on my nails & cuticle, this is quickly making them look great for the Summer! I love how this product quickly removes and hydrates  cuticles. It is so easy to use and leaves my hands soft too! I have tried a variety of other cuticle products but this really is my favorite! It seems to moisturize and hydrate much better than the other products I have tried.  Look for it where Sally Hansen products are sold!

Looking for a really adorable Baby Shower gift? RecordablePal by Elli & Nooli is a great gift idea! First of all…it is simply adorable! The RecordablePal records your voice or any sound at the press of one easy button, turning a soft and cuddly buddy into one of the most comforting items of baby gear that you’ve ever seen! The RecordablePal captures twenty seconds of mommy or daddy singing baby’s favorite song or any sound that baby likes the most … then plays it back on a loop for thirty minutes! I received a sample and we tried it out with a good friend who has a baby. Mom and baby both love it! It’s really easy to record and it really comforts babies. One really great thing is that you can re-record as many times as you want. So, you can sing new songs and leave new messages. It’s great for travel too! This is such a wonderful idea for new parents and also great for grandparents..especially those who don’t live close. Also, did I say how cute this Owl is? It’s just too adorable for words!  I wish that this had been around when my son was a baby!

You can find it on Amazon.

Clouds By Katharine Hall

Clouds_187

There are many different kinds of clouds all around us. Clouds come in diverse shapes and colors. Some clouds are fluffy and others are wispy. Some clouds float high in the sky and others sit low on the ground. Some clouds warn of storms and other clouds tell of fair weather. Compare and contrast the characteristics of different types of clouds through vibrant photographs.

I really loved the beautiful photographs in this book! It’s a simple read and great for beginner readers. I recommend for grades K-3.

The For Creative Minds section includes: Water Cycle Experiments, Match the Clouds and Weather Predictions.

Find this wonderful book at Arbordale Publishing.

Animal Partners by Scotti Cohn

AnimalPartners_187

Animal Partners is a really fun and educational book for grades K-4! I love the poetry and the illustrations!

From the “crocodile’s dentist,” to the “mongoose spa,” Animal Partners takes a whimsical look at the different types of symbiotic relationships of animals large and small. Although many animals live in groups of the same kind, here you will learn how some animals form unique partnerships with different species. After all, don’t we all need a little help from our friends?

A Must-Read for grades K-4! The For Creative Minds section includes: Helping Partners, What Type of Partners and Match the Animal Partners.

If you have a Kindle (or other ebook reader) this item is a Must-Have! I recently received the Kandle By Ozeri Flex and love it! This makes reading at night so much brighter and easier!

I like that there is flexibility so you can position it at the angle you want. It’s also stylish and sleek and it seems quite durable. I like to use to for reading at night. It works great with the older Kindles that do not light up. My son can even use it with his iPad mini. It’s small and compact so it is perfect for summer travels.

Find it on Amazon.com.
