Uno, May 17 Pet of the Week

awww! Such a sweetie!

Uno, 5 years old,was smacked with a double whammy — he has two infectious feline viruses: FIV, which weakens the immune system and is transmitted through biting, and FeLV, which can be caught through litter boxes, saliva and other environmental agents. But cats with either disease won’t necessarily succumb to it, although there is a chance. As the volunteer in the photo said, please don’t let Uno’s forever home be the shelter. If he can be an only cat or live with another infected kitty, he can be your big, sweet, gentle orange boy. To adopt or foster Uno, email to speed the process, or call (562) 570-7387. Better yet, meet him in person at Long Beach Animal Care Services, 7700 E. Spring St., Long Beach, at entrance to El Dorado Park (no parking fee for shelter visitors). Visiting hours are Wednesday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Ask for ID#A717991.
