Parents everywhere would like to help kids learn in ways that are fun and help others. Meet a real-life rescue dog named Lucky, the inspiration behind the TurfMutt environmental education and stewardship program. Lucky can help parents teach their children how to take care of green spaces and get them outside – and has important reminders to share for families living in drought-afflicted areas.

Rescued from the side of an Indiana highway, Lucky is now “pawing it forward” by inspiring children to care for green spaces while learning science. Designed for children in grades K-5, the TurfMutt program (www.TurfMutt.com) is partnered with well-known children’s publisher SCHOLASTIC, and can be used at home – with a digital storybook, home-based learning activities and interactive games.

The TurfMutt program was created by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute’s Education and Research Foundation.
