The Aquarium of the Pacific invites teens and families to bring a sleeping bag and a sense of adventure to participate in its Winter Teen Overnight and Winter Family Sleepover. Winter Teen Overnight participants, ages 13 to 15, can explore the exhibits at night and participate in special programs to uncover mysteries of the deep. The evening will begin with a pizza party. Aquarium educators will then lead teens in a flashlight tour to search for hidden bioluminescent “treasures.” Teens will also get to witness real bioluminescence in a classroom session and learn how animals use this adaptation to survive in the cold, dark ocean. Finally, participants will curl up in their sleeping bags in front of the Tropical Reef Habitat or sea otter exhibit.

Families can start the New Year off exploring together through the Aquarium’s Winter Family Sleepover for ages 5 and older. During this program, families will have an up-close encounter with one of the Aquarium’s Magellanic Penguins, discover cold water habitats, and learn about plankton and bioluminescence. They’ll also discover the nocturnal behaviors of some animals as they explore the Aquarium on a flashlight tour. Participants will get to watch an ocean themed movie before getting cozy to sleep in front of the Tropical Reef and Northern Pacific exhibits. The Winter Teen Overnight and Family Sleepover include snacks, a cereal breakfast, and a souvenir T-shirt in addition to a pizza party and hands-on learning activities.
