DISCOVERY CUBE HOSTS 11th ANNUAL SCIENCE OF GINGERBREAD COMPETITION TO KICK OFF THE HOLIDAY SEASON 

Science of Gingerbread to Feature Hands-On Activities and Gingerbread House Competition for Educational and Entertaining Family Bonding

Starting November 25, 2016, nonprofit Discovery Cube is hosting their annual Science of Gingerbread Exhibit and Competition, through January 1, 2017, at both of their campuses in Orange County and Los Angeles. The Cube’s holiday festival is filled with educational, hands-on activities designed to bring families together this holiday season. Local companies, schools, families and organizations have been invited to build their own gingerbread house creations and enter into a competition. The entire visual display must be made of edible materials. Gingerbread creation entries will be displayed throughout Discovery Cube.

Winners will be announced at the Gingerbread Awards Ceremony occurring at both campuses simultaneously on the night of December 9, 2016. Award categories include: Best by an Organization, Best Youth 5 and Under, Best Youth ages 6-13, Best Youth Group/Troop/Scout, Best by Classroom, Best by a Member of the Cube, Best Super Hero Themed, Best Science Themed, President’s Choice and Jr. Gingerbread Engineers Presidents’ Choice. Discovery Cube seeks to prove that there is more than just mixing and pouring in the kitchen, it’s science at work.

Exhibit activities include:

  • Gingerbread Derby Competition
  • “Matter of Taste” Stage Show (weekends only)
  • Build a House Learning Station
  • Cookie Decorating
  • Santa Claus meet and greets (available from 11:00am to 3:00pm on 11/25-11/27, 12/3-12/4, 12-10/12/11, 12/17-12/24)
