Heritage Hill Historical Park, along with its supporting volunteer organization The Amigos de la Colina, is pleased to welcome the public to enjoy its display of vintage hats. On view at the park in Lake Forest the hats are a collection of a wide variety, dating from late 1800’s through the 1950’s.

June 2 – Fitness Hike at Little Sycamore

Raise your heart rate and your spirits on this difficult, strenuous and fast-paced, 4.8-mile hike (400-ft. elevation gain) over very steep, uneven terrain with Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteers.

June 2 – Restore Wildflowers and Wildlife in Limestone Canyon

Remove aggressive weeds and give native wildflowers more room to grow, which help local wildlife thrive in Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve. All tools and training, including plant identification, will be provided.

June 4 – Nursery Plant Propagation and Care Day
8 – 11 a.m.
Join us at our native plant nursery as we care for native plants from their seed stage to their mature, ready-to-be planted stage. Volunteers may collect seeds, sow seeds in flats, bump plants up, plant at restoration sites, sterilize plant containers, and/or help maintain the facilities for the plants. Gain hands-on experience with habitat restoration while working alongside other zany and interesting plant lovers!

June 4 – First Saturday of the Month Morning Hike To The Redwood Grove

Join OC Parks’ trained staff on the first Saturday of the month for an easy 1.1-mile early morning interpretive hike to the park’s Coastal Redwood grove. You will use your 5 senses to engage with nature as you stroll to the Redwoods. You will also have an opportunity to learn about our native plants along the trail. The hike begins at 8:30 a.m. from the park’s Nature Center.

The Orange County Historical Commission cordially invites you to a special open house at Arden: Helena Modjeska Historic House and Gardens offered in conjunction with Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary’s Summerfest. If you enjoy using the park trails and aren’t afraid of a little hard work, this is your opportunity to give back by improving trails. You will also learn to see your favorite trails in a new way! Join Laguna Canyon Foundation and OC Parks for a morning of trail maintenance. We will be using tools such as loppers, picks, shovels and McLeods to clear brush out of trails, restore features that protect the trail, and/or build new features to improve trail sustainability.

OC Parks would like to invite you and your kids to a fun morning of fishing at Clark Regional Park! This Kids’ Fishing Clinic and Catfish Derby (for ages 15 and under) is designed to teach kids how to fish, while giving them an opportunity to catch a few from the lake. Whether this is your first time fishing or you’re a regular, you will have fun trying to catch some fish! Instructors will be on hand to demonstrate, assist and answer any questions.

Are you able to spot the ducks, geese and grebes in the lakes? Can you hear and see the songbirds on the trees and in the bushes? There may also be shorebirds and hawks at the park! Come join an OC Parks volunteer and experienced birdwatcher and learn about the birds of William R. Mason Regional Park. While on an easy, half-mile walk around the park, you will be able to see and learn about a variety of birds that visit the park. Bring your binoculars to get better views of the birds.
