OC Parks’ Bugs & Butterflies event at Riley Wilderness Park is this Sunday! This family-friendly event on Sunday, June 3 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. invites children and their families to learn all about bugs & butterflies.
OC Parks invites children and families to learn all about bugs and butterflies! Come tour Riley Wilderness Park’s butterfly garden at this free, family-friendly event. Special guests include Mimi the Monarch Butterfly and Western Monarch Guardians! Plant and insect experts will be available to provide educational information and answer questions.
Explore educational stations, informative exhibits and live anthropod friends. See the intricate design of a bee colony with honeycomb and a live queen bee. Also, get an up close encounter with native hawks and snakes. Additional activities include a live butterfly enclosure, children’s face painting, giveaways, native plant sales, storytelling, park tours and arts and crafts. There will also be a live butterfly release at 3 p.m. A food truck will be on-site serving delicious culinary creations for a nominal fee.
