Let Creativity Reign This Earth Day with Eco-Conscious Crafting & Sustainable Family Fun at Rediscover Center’s New Mid City Location on April 21!

Rediscover Center – a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, CA which provides kids, teens, and adults with the resources to engage in creative reuse and self-expression – is opening a new location in Mid City Los Angeles (2375 W. Washington Blvd.) and is celebrating with a special launch party on April 21, part of Earth Day 2024 (which is on April 22).  All attendees get a free hot glue gun and the first 50 guests will receive a free Rediscover Center children’s t-shirt and a coupon for a free woodworking tool training class. There will be additional giveaways and raffles throughout the day.

The festivities for the launch party will occur from 11am to 3pm and will feature: hands-on sustainable art activities guided by local artists; multiple activity booths for littles, families, and teens; hands-on woodworking demos; a cardboard superhero costuming station; recyclable balance structures; sustainable waste-to-flower vase creations; refreshments; and special musical performances by Amazing Grace Conservatory. With sustainable artmaking using recycled and upcycled materials (all materials are diverted from LA’s waste stream and curated for creative uses), Rediscover provides the ideal place for individuals and families to honor Earth Day, all while learning mending and repair skills.

Rediscover Center’s new Mid City location also will expand sustainable maker education across Los Angeles and provide makerspace access for youth in Mid City, Koreatown, South LA, DTLA, West Adams, Pico Union, West Hollywood, Pasadena, and beyond. Featuring shared facilities filled with tools, materials, and a community of makers learning, designing, making, and tinkering, the new space features a 2,400 square foot public youth makerspace with an adjacent 3,000 square foot patio for public events. The makerspace offers crafting, sewing, and woodworking facilities that can accommodate up to 50 makers, with toolsets appropriate for 5-8 year olds, 8-12 year olds, teens, and adults. The entire Center is stocked with sustainably sourced “rediscovered” materials, such as cardboard, household recyclables, commercial overstock, and manufacturing offcuts.

Rediscover Center also is one of L.A.’s most unique and exciting places for a wide variety of events, including birthday parties and corporate retreats. The Center hosts workshops, camps, field trips, Weekend Family Crafting sessions, tool trainings, upcycled art parties, Scouts badge workshops, team workshops and offsites, and much more.
