Last Minute Book Suggestions for the Holidays!

This is one of my favorites! I think that girls of all ages should have this book! Forget the runway. These Awesome Women Who Changed History are dressed for the battlefields, the picket lines–and the White House!

These 20 realistic paper dolls have everything they need to shatter the glass ceiling. Prepare Sally Ride for liftoff with her spacesuit and helmet. Get Annie’s gun (and her hat and dress) before she heads into a sharpshooting competition. And please rise for the Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whose robes and gavel will have her ready to preside over the United States Supreme Court.

Whether conducting research while living with the chimps in the wild, taking flight across the Atlantic, or leading people to freedom on the Underground Railroad, the paper doll likenesses of these groundbreaking women are sure to inspire awesome women of any age.

This book is a real inspiration and would make a great gift idea! I loved the variety of women selected to be a part of this book!

Girls + Science = WIN! New children’s book combines earth science with incredible action! This is another great one for girls!

Cook’s debut children’s book, Veronica and the Volcano, is about ten-year-old Veronica who lives in a high-tech, gadget-filled house on the slope of an active volcano. When she leaves on a quest to find rare white volcano pearls on the far side of the biggest volcano of all, Mount Mystery, she leads her father, her best friend Maddy, and her friend’s dad, the blustering Captain John, into a series of incredible adventures. But when the colossal volcano erupts, fears wins an election, and Veronica must square off against a fear-mongering villain: the Man-in-White.

In Veronica and the Volcano kids will root for Veronica every step of the way, and while they are cheering her on, they’ll learn as well. Complementing STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) curriculum, the book is filled with educational elements about volcanoes, geysers, caves, and the wonders of physics. A glossary in the back provides an at-a-glance list of the facts in the book.

Important New Children¹s Book Celebrates What Makes Us Different!

They are words no parent wants to hear. Unfortunately, bullying is a very real (and growing) concern throughout schools and society. When children are constantly bombarded by media, peers, even grown-ups who are supposed to have their best interests in mind, who tell them that being different is something to be ashamed of, our worst fear is that they might begin to believe it.

But as we know, differences are things to celebrate, not things to hide from or mock. Enter the conversation-starting new kids’ book from Kathryn Hast, Batty Betty. From the beautifully illustrated cast of whimsical characters, including a confident tuba named Abel, a sad banana named Eve, a giant named Betty who delights in dancing like nobody’s watching, and a group of beaver bullies, to the words inspired by the rhythm of song lyrics, Batty Betty is not only fun to read for both children and parents – it tackles topics like bullying, kindness, and helping others.

I checked out this one and I think it is great for young children! I love how it teaches about kindness and helping others!

Batty Betty can be purchased from www.lujubooks.com and is available on Amazon.

Tingle Boots Coloring book is the latest by Suzy Toronto. Toronto is a self-proclaimed “wacky” woman, and she wants others to embrace their inner wackiness too. In fact, she’s created an entire art brand that speaks (mostly) to girls and women, inspiring them to embrace their rarity, goofiness, and everything that makes them unique—no matter how silly it may seem. This is an inspiring and fun coloring book for girls and women too!

Four additional books comprise this series: Friendship Coloring BookSisterhood Coloring BookInspiration &Encouragement Coloring Book, and Light & Laughter Coloring Book. In each book, Suzy Toronto sprinkles encouraging and empowering quotes. “Release your inner child and believe in yourself again,” Toronto says. “There’s more inside you than you ever dreamed possible!”
